:grd: I love mine. The only thing I can say is make sure whomever does the upgrade is familiar with the Allison and has done them before. If you are thinking about doing it yourself I'd start talking to Mike L. The shifts are smooth while driving normally but crisp when getting on the hammer. When in T/H mode the TC lockup takes a bit of getting used to when it locks in 2nd. Right now I'm seriously considering traction bars due to the hp getting to the road causing wheel hop. I think that is a nice problem to have.

100% pleased customer here. Shifts are nice n clean and it really gets heavy loads moving well. It's very well mannered for daily driving as well. You will feel the difference.

I have a V in mine and it's been the most consistent, and predictable trans that I have had. I recently pulled it to have an apply plate upgrade done and found the front 3 sets of clutches to be in excellent condition.

What convertor do you guys suggest? I have read there are choices.

Very pleased with my IV.

I have what was Suncoast's current, as of two months ago, triple disc convertor. Don't know if it is still current; it was newly released when I got it. It is tighter than stock, and you can definately feel it lock. I like it.

Did the entire install myself, and had no problems. Did a lot of talking to Mike L. and Dmaxallietech before hand; both were extremely helpful.

I have the SC tripple disk with a medium stall. It works for me for what I do. Talk to Mike L and he will school you on what one to get.

Very pleased with mine but it does hurt fuel mileage as everything is more tempting when you don't have to worry about limping :)

That boils down to personal preference. I've tried a bunch, and my favorite (the one that Joe twisted his driveshaft with) is laying on the shop floor right now so I could try a different unit which IMHO does not compare.

Why would you take something out if you liked it ??????

Did you try another Suncoast or an ATS Extreme Tranny ?????

Just wondering..........I rode in an ATS V truck and the TC felt good..........I may have to take my SC/TC out and get the one you like..........

PM me with the details of it or should I just call JOE.........;)

Thanks,

If you must, Joe wanted me to try the one with the pump clearance reduced and the fins partially straightened like everyone is raving about. While it gets up quickly, I just get on top of it way too easily compared to the modified stator unit...

What do you mean "get on top of it too easily"???

I duno if thats what he means or not???

Have you had this converter to the track yet?

We are running the TTS Triple in Big Blue, and it has been flawless. It dropped .15 seconds before and after. Can be stalled up to 2500, but launches best at 2100 with 400-460 HP.

Suncoast III holds the #2 horseys OK, but does not like nitrous. You will probably need more trans if you want to run past 500rwhp.

IMO.

Just my opinion...but I think he means while the converter is tight on the bottom...it feels like you blow through it as the RPMs come up.

I would like John to explain what is happening and how he is shure that the converter he has actually preforms just like the converter everyone is "raving" about. ;)

I have no problems with mine............other than the fact that I can't launch above 1700rpms or I blow the tires away. When I put larger(better) tires on, and can launch harder I think it will do even better.

Mr. Kennedy

Would this also be the converter you had Eric buy and ship to Joe for you? Would it also be the one that was cut apart to see how it was built? You know that by cutting it open it will never be the way it was originally manufacture don't you.

When did Kennedy start building converters, isn't he really the scapegoat for the real triple converter builder in Florida?Shouldn't that really be the animosity focal point? If there was one

Just wondering.Call me indifferent :o:

I'm full ATS including bolted to the flywheel!

Tony, you like butter on yours?

As for the converter.....without giving a flying cluck.... how did the conv in BMDMAX's trans bare so much in common with the "Black Gold" from out west when it was nearly 2 years old? Dunno myself.

I have seen the insides of the three major players converters and seen how each does what it does. I know Joe does not build them like the magic units from the far west. I dont know much about converters, dont claim too either. Its my job to install them, not research them. Cut open one of Joe's current units and I bet it dont vary far from what he had 2 years ago...odd since he had the magic unit to copy

Suncoast ATS and who?

I think it was curiosity that got the best of FW Beach!I recall a thread where he said he wouldn't..... Anyone could get one NOW and cut it open from the three major players and check see ;)

No, he is not the scapegoat for the Florida connection. He is the one behind pulling on all the strings. Only problem here is he got caught, again.
