To those who are interested, Manson, Iowa is having a truck pull during their annual Greater Crater Days. The pull will be June 25th. It will probably be run by the Midwest Pullers Association, like the past few years. It is just an idea. I would like to see some good diesel pickups there to pull. There is also one in Humbolt, Iowa usually in July, will keep you posted on more info.

The town of Fort Dodge is nearby, only 16 miles away from Manson. It has a Best Western, AmericanINN, Super 8, Comfort Inn, and a few others. So, there is lodging not too far from Manson.

How's all the rain affecting the track for friday nights pull? Look like the pull will be on?

I don't think rain will affect the track much, they usually do all the trtack work that day, so, it shouldn't hurt it much. The main problem is that they pack the track so much, it is almost like pulling on concrete and then your wheels don't spin at the end as much, they end up biting pretty hard.

Two years ago when we pulled at Manson it was so tacky that the engine was rolling over on its mounts and my front u joint was hitting my shield. I hadn't had that issue before either.... It was fun though. I hope it doesn't get cancelled. 2 1/2 hr drive for me. The drive up isn't as bad as the drive back.

I hear you, it is a tacky track, kind of know for that. Like I said they work it and pack it the day of the pull, if they would work it and let it sit for a day or so, then work it again, and let it sit. I mean if they would actually work it to get it loosened up a bit, instead of it being so hard and compacted. Didn't like them for that:mad:. They should listen to the pullers advice instead of them being stubborn. I, honestly have never pulled, afraid of messing up my front end or breaking something. Would like to try it once, but not on Manson's track for the first time. Need to find a descent track that doesn't tear stuff up, and gives a little.

The pull is still on, it starts around 7:00, and ends most of the time around 11 o'clock. As mentioned before, the town of Fort Dodge is about 16 miles from Manson/ the pull. There are a few hotels there. I am just listing them to help out, and phone numbers to them for anyone traveling a ways to get there, to avoid the hassel.

These are all located if you come down on highway 20 and turn north on 169. They are located from highway 20 up to highway 7. There are a few located on Business 20, but the construction in town and surrounding area to get to them is terrible. These will be the easiest to get to. Any questions, please ask.

Directions to the track if you are coming on highway 20, would be to turn north on 169 (Humbolt/ Fort Dodge Exit), follow 169 up to highway 7 (Best Western Stralite will be to your right) turn left on 7 follow highway 7 to Manson (about 16 miles), on the west side on Manson there will be a John Deere Dealership, turn right up that street and continue until you see a high school track, just beyond that turn right onto a street and the pull will be right there, the parking lot of the track is the 'pits'. Any more questions, anyone, please ask. I do not pull, but go to it every year.

Does anyone know what the cost is at this pull? Just spectating and or pit pass.

I think it might be $10.00 for the entrance, and I think (don't hold me to this), pit passes are just walk in. I think when Manson had the Outlaw Truck and Tractor pull the few was a little higher and the pit passes cost extra, but now I think $10 and your in. I would like to see a few truck myself, before the pull, and see what people are running. I think it would be cool to see a group of them in the town of Barnum at about 5:00pm, and then cruise over to the pull. Barnum (my hometown), has a bar, a good hangout spot, and I just think it would be cool to see like 5-10 pulling diesel trucks there and then see a group hit the pull together. Barnum is halfway between Fort Dodge and Manson.

Went down there last night with my buddy to watch him pull and had some good running diesel trucks there. Three or four trucks broke stuff in the rear ends. It was really hot and humid, but the beer was flowing good, always good turnout at manson.

I was the first diesel in the Pro Street Class (white reg cab long bed with black hood). The track had plenty of traction for sure. The run felt good until the end. The sled really put the brakes on me. I stayed in it and twisted the rear driveshaft in half. It was the stock 3.5" steel driveshaft. At least I had shields and loops on so it kept the driveshaft in the truck. Looks like I'll be having a new driveshaft made this week. Still trying to decide on the 1410 or 1480 u-joints. I like 1410's so they are the "fuse" in the system, but don't want to have more trouble later.

My buddy had silver crewcab dmax and his first pull he was in 2wd, so we got a exhibiton pull at end of street diesel class and he let off at 280ft and coasted across 300ft, what a difference 4-lo makes.
