I bought a new key fob and thought I could program it myself . I tried holding the unlock button and turning key on/off on/off , nothing . Am I doomed to the dealer ?

My '08 book says:
Press the vehicle information button until "Press checkmark to relearn remote key" displays.
Press the set/reset until "remote key learning active" is displayed
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons in the first transmitter at the same time for about 15 seconds.
A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.

I don't know if it is the same for the '06.

The van doesn't have a DIC or info center . I guess now I know I have a girl van , it doesn't have a DIC !:D

If it is like my '02 DMax, it must be programmed by a Tec2. Had the fob stolen — insurance company would pay for a new one but refused to pay to have it programmed so that it would work with the truck! Fortunately, a friend has a Tech2 and did it for a burger and fries. BTW, the fob and a dealer program are pricey.

Give this a try. Not sure if it will work with yours.

Thanks for the link ! It has to be programed at the dealer :( The fob cost $17.00 on flea bay , programming probably $50.00 and this is a working van no time to hang around a dealer.

I can't say what the posted link all works for. I used it for a '96 Buick.

I followed the link and the instructions for my 2003 K2500 and it worked like a charm. Thanks for saving me the 124 (pretax) dollars that the dealer wanted to charge me for programming!

Tried this link several times for the #1 FOB , I had replaced the FOB battery, as it had quit working, and the battery tested weak. The links instructions did not work on this FOB. The #2 FOB still works. Are there any other options out there??, Thanks
