Hello to all forum members, this is my first post of many im sure. Last Sunday I bought a Black 2005 Dmax 4by4 short bed (diesel of course) and I have fallen in love with the darn thing! I know I am on my way to being an Duramax addict. Anyways ive been reading the forum non stop and have learned alot from all of your posts. I know i have alot of learning to do because I would like to fix this truck up right the first time. I recently bought an Edge Juice w/ attitude as the first upgrade. In reading other threads its evident that I need to upgrade other parts of the truck to handle the power. My question is what would you all recomend to me as my second upgrade? Or maybe just listing your progress of upgrades would be great?

I have a feeling the next upgrade should be one to protect me from breaking something else due to the extra power.
I was thinking Exhaust, Intake or Tranny! I dont really trust the guys at the shop they dont have the experience you all have!

I appreciate all of your help!

Oh I almost forgot to mention I have a lead foot!!:ro)

Im from Miami Fl, I bought the chip from a place called Truckin Motion but plan on doing the install on my own. I see alot of upgraded Chevys in miami so im hopefull to get some help. I havnt installed the Edge yet only because its shipping as we speak. I cant wait to install it. What do you all think is more important for non trailering driving a Tranny or intake and exhaust or something else im overlooking?

All input is appreciated!!

Thanks for the welcoming!!!

I think if you are not putting too much programming in, intake (maybe) and exhaust (must) first plus guages (pyro and boost). When you are putting more than 90 hp down with the programming, the trans definately needs to be upgraded. I have read that the intake is just as good as an aftermarket. Welcome to the place and congrats on your new truck!

I would definitely upgrade the exhaust, preferrably straightpiped! ;) Since the Edge already has gauges built in, I would leave those til the end(when you realize the Edge isn't enough power):h ) When all of the above is said and done, I would move onto the tranny(most expensive of all). Worth the cost. McRat toasted his c1 clutches with just a few 1/4 mile passes on his brand new truck! This is what I would.:D

Thanks much for the replies, it seems that a tranny or exhaust is the next reasonable option for my purposes. I will post a new thread in the corresponding forums regarding the exhaust and tranny. So it seems logical not to use the 4th and 5th setting on the Edge just as of yet untill I upgrade the other areas? Right? <-----I might not be able to restrain myself, but ill try.

Thanks again, Chris
