Looking for ideas / suggestions.........

Does anyone know of a permanent way (or product) to seal the opening around the tailgate when it is in the closed position?

I have a bedcap on my 2005 and the dust and rain find their way into my bed and onto everything inside. I can see that the entry point is around the tailgate which doesn't seal very tight in the closed position.

My '98 didn't have this problem - it was sealed tight as a drum.

Thanks!
Rob

This works not too bad. It's not perfect but its about the best thing out there right now as far as I can tell.

Thanks - That's similar to this one that I was looking at. Just don't know how sturdy the 3M tape would be. http://jjtrailers.com/Catalog/tailgate_seal_2871929.htm

Don't remember what I put on mine. Some off the shelve thing. Been on for 1.5 years and has not come off. What I have noticed is that the gap between the tailgate and the bed (on my truck) is almost to big to fill. I still get some (Very little) water in the bed while driving in the rain.

I've used them on my last 2 trucks. They hold on for a while, but eventually work loose because they trap dirt/water on the bottom seal. I'd recommend augmenting the 3M tape with weatherstripping adhesive or silicone caulk.

Thanks for all the replies - I'll be picking one up on Monday. Did a road trip this weekend and couldn't keep the rain out - UGHH!

Bought the same one today. Looked at several - this particular dealer sold the Trail - Seal model to me for $20. Most places wanted $35 for the same one. I think he may have had it mismarked. Hopefully will put it on tonight and let all know what I think.

Thanks again!

Went on easy - looks OEM - seals the gap well - time will tell if it will hold up.......
