I just bought a (used) Edge Juice w/Attitude. When it arrived I noticed that it was an older version (4.73). I called Edge and went the honest route. I told them that I had bought the unit used and I would like to pay them to inspect it and install the latest upgrades. The customer service rep. said "no problem, we provide that service for free"!! Then he told me to send in the Attitude with it and they would inspect and upgrade it as well!
I was amazed (to say the least), I would have gladly paid for this level of service, To have it provided for free is over the top!
Service after the sale...even if they didn't make the sale.
Edge Products are top notch.

Could someone educate me on the Predator/Edge or similar programmers! You guys use alot of brand name terminology a newbie with progammers doesn't understand! I wish they use simple, clear words in describing programmers! For a newbie "Edge with attitude" doesn't inform very well! It sounds more like a wrestler! Is there a "Tool with Cool" programmer too? Help interpret this foreign language for a newbie!
Questions:
I don't need more power (although more power is always nice if there's no downside!) What I really want is better fuel economy!
1. What's involved if I want to get a programmer/chip that will increase mileage primarily! Installation? Programing?
2. I've heard from diesel mechanics that power in a diesel is basically a function of putting more fuel through the engine! Is there a direct trade off in lower mileage for a 40-50 h.p. increase?
3. What's the best buy for a programmer just to increase mileage?
Thanx in advance for any advice,

I will try to help as best I can, but there are members here that have more info than I.
What year truck do you have?
I know the LB7's get better MPG after about 11,000 miles on the truck. The more they brake in the better they get. I am not sure the same can be said for the LLY.
For the best Bang for Buck the Edge with the Attitude is money well spent. Not only for power, but also for milage, and safety features.
If you tow do it in the #2 setting. This will give you a better mpg over stock and will not give high egt's that the higher setting can do. I believe the lower settings 1-2 are a timing issue. The higher ones are timing and extra fuel.
By getting the Attitude you have the ability to monitor important engine and tranny peramiters.
I gave up on the MPG issue once I got bitten by the power bug.

I have to remind myself that I really bought the truck for more Miles Per Gallon while towing.
Instead .. it appears that 'smiles per gallon' are now the order of the day.
Oh well:help:

I bought the Edge/Attitude for exactly the same reason .... Mileage plus power.

The edge is a great unit, can be easily removed and installed, and best of all can be used to stack with most other programers for even more power.......:ro)

I bought my Edge/Attitude the first week I owned the truck (02/04)... mostly for power and I didn't really think about the mileage issue, anything was better than my 96' 350... but now that I have a job a little over an hour away, I put over 700 miles on my truck every week, running between 55 and 70 and I am consistently getting 21-22 hand calculated MPG's at every fill up, running the edge on level 3/low boost level 1.
