I just got a crank pulley from GM, and I'm ready to install both the fluidampr and crank pulley. I have an automatic transmission, can I put it in drive when I torque the dampr to 200lbs? I've read to take off the starter and put a screw driver in the gears to torque it. Puting it in drive sounds easier. Besides having a harmonic balancer removal tool and blue locktite. Do I need anything else for the install or any other concerns? Thanks ahead of time.

You will need to fabricate and installation tool , get the proper metric bolt and have a 4 in bolt welded head to head , if you don't have the proper tool you will strip the crank's threads which become a big problem, and as for torquing the damper bolt, the best way is to remove the access pan for the torque converter end lock the revolution with a screwdriver or some kind of extension...

agreed. I used a spare crank bolt and welding on some all thread. I had someone hold a small wrecking bar in the teeth of the flywheel to keep the crank from rotating. I do not think park will work due to the torque converter.
Putting it in Park WILL NOT work. No solid connection with the torque converter in between the transmission and the engine. Use a tool to lock the flex plate in place.

Well, I guess I'll buy the installation tool from Heath for $150. Another tool, I'll probably only use once! Thanks for the heads up on the installation before I started to pull everything off.

I just got done installing the Fluidampr, crank pulley, and belt tensioner. Here are some pictures. When pulling the old parts off. The crank pulley seemed somewhat new, the harmonic balancer was probably the original one and had hairline cracks in the rubber and a split. Before removing, I noticed a slight wobble on the harmonic balancer when running. You guys were right about "putting it in gear" it didn't work. The motor would still turn, even chocked and the emergency brake on. I had to remove the bell housing cover and put a bolt in two holes in the tranny ring gear, to keep the crank from turning. Thanks to Mikey von and his Fluiddampr installation tool he lent me. Made the job fairly easy and saved me $150 on a tool I'd probably only use once. I'm waiting on a new belt to be delivered. I noticed a slight difference in smoothness in the motor. No more wobble!

The Fluidampr gives me a little more peace of mind, and with everything I've done so far. Next will be the Amsoil by-pass, then a 4" exhaust.
