: $535 to install boost and pyro??!!

Local diesel shop wants $535 to furnish and install the cheapest autometer boost and pyro gauges. He also says that he will only install the pyro post-turbo. Is this a hose job or fair?? Seems like a lot of money to me, but would like other opinions. Truck is an '03 D/A bone stock with straight-pipe.

You can buy the parts for about $200 and install it yourself in a couple hours PRE turbo where it should be.

Looks like about half parts, half labor. Probably not entirely out of the ballpark. You can do it yourself, though, if you are even mildly handy with tools. There are lots of threads that address the process and any lingering question can be asked here with an answer just a mouse click away.

235.00 for gauges and Pod.

200 is not out of line for labour if Tapping the intake manifold for boost and exhaust manifold for pre turbo pyro.

I did mine myself. That is not a bad price if paying a shop to do it. Later!

If you do it yourself you can spend the extra money on better guages.

Its a waste of money having your pyro post turbo anyway. Just buy the stuff and install it yourself. Can you drill a hole, and run some wires? Its really not that hard.

DEFINETLY PRE TURBO

For a little more, you can get the Juice/Attitude and install it yourself. Mine is set to display boost, EGT, engine temp, and corrected speed. Plus, there is the power!

I like my gauges better than the attitude display...I use my attitude to display trans gear(and tq. conv. lock),engine temp, trans slip, and throttle position. I use gauges for boost and egt. The boost on the attitude isn't real boost psi. It reads higher than an actual gauge.

Not a bad idea. Maybe one of these days we should get that boost guage installed. Could be a late night. Thats only if you end up at the Yacht Club!
