Hello everybody,

do you know oil Shell Rimula R3X? Is this oil good for my 6,5 TD engine?

Thank you for advice.

It looks like it's a bit better than standard CG-4 oil, but not quite as good as some of the synthetics. The Shell Rimula RT4 or R6 would be a better choice, if your budget can handle it.

I've run Shell Rotella T 15w-40 in both my trucks. My pickup's been on amsoil as of ~2 years ago. Very quiet running.

Never heard of Shell Rimula R3X.

Edit: Seems that that oil isn't available in my country. That explains why i've never heard of it. If it meets the rating the engine requires then i don't see why you can't run it.

The User's Manual for 95 says you can use SG/CE but CF-4/SH is prefered.
In the US, we are using at least CI-4 and most have changed to CJ.

I believe the 2nd letter after "C" goes up as new standard comes out.
So CF is after CE, CJ is the latest, CI-4 is one before.

I am not sure what year of truck you have.

Rimula is indeed sold in the US. I called a Shell distributor and talked about the products...
Rimula , Rotella etc.
I'm sticking with the Rotella, I prefer a systhetic if it is not to costly and it is very assessable in my area for 19.98 per gallon.
The Rimula is a very good oil and has extended change intervals:)

We use Shell Rimula on our 6.5 fleet , have for quite a few years now, not sure about the R3X designation. Will check tomorrow and post back the info from the label on the drum. We buy it in 55 gal drums and bulk at another location 250 gal at a time. No problems so far and we drain at 4500 miles with no additional filtration, just the stock filter.
