Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked before but my searches came up with nothing so I'll put it as short as I can.
New to diesel and I would like to replace the exhaust on my '03 2500HD crew cab(california truck). What wouldhappen, if anything, if I bought an exhaust that deletes the cat converter? Would I have a problem with the PC? Would it be in violation of the emissions equipment when I go to get it smogged, if I have too? Thanks for your time.

What state are you in? Are you sure you have a Cat? Most don't, mainly California trucks do.

No problem removing it regardless.

Diesel's don't have to get smogged from what I understand.

bbc427,

Most of the CA trucks will set a check engine light if you pull the cat, get a system like our MBRP cat back and try it for a few days, if you decide you want the front pipe then you can add it and make sure the light and engines codes stay clear for you. If not you can put the stock pipe back in and sell the front pipe to one the members here easily. Call us if you have any questions etc.

If your in one of the Clean States as they are now called and you remove the cat you are in violation of the smog laws. You may or may not set trouble codes if you remove the cat. That being said most people do not know how to inspect a diesel truck.
