: Super Power
trukhead 03-27-2010, 04:44 PM I had this thought for super power from my 6.2, it goes as follows: Install head studs, main studs and heavy rod bolts. Then install a super duper billit crankshaft like the ones in nitro funny cars. now the good part, use a 500 horse power pro-fogger nitrous oxide kit with 8 nozzles, one nozzle per intake port, and use wd-40 for the fuel through the fogger set-up.
start up the engine on diesel fuel through the stock set up and just leave it alone.
when power is needed just push button and instant 500hp, what d ya think?
Joeairforce 03-27-2010, 04:51 PM Bye bye engine.......
:welcome2: the site though....
Trios 03-27-2010, 04:53 PM I think you'll blow a headgasket. I also think you'll spend a lot more time, energy, money, sweat, blood, and tears doing this than just swapping in a Cummins or Duramax, which can both supply 500hp for you at ALL times (not just with a button).
These engines are NOT powerhouses. Any attempt to MAKE them a powerhouse will either fail, or be ridiculously expensive, and THEN it will fail. You can make them moderately powerful; you can even make them as powerful as a 6.5 Turbo. You can't make them as powerful as a Cummins, Duramax, or SBC. Just live with it.
4320Diesel 03-27-2010, 04:53 PM oh no trios is lurking! but dude that engine will not put up with that. and WD-40? do some research and youll find a 6.2 is more of the 200 horsepower being close to maximum range here.
mtjasper 03-27-2010, 04:55 PM Aren't you forgetting pistons, rods, heads, and all that good stuff? I think your trying to fight a loosing battle, Just throwing nitrous to something to get power is kinda stupid, specially a old 6.2.
IamDave0887 03-27-2010, 05:01 PM I think the guys are right.
I agree with Trios, an attempt of huge power will either end in failure, or it will end in lots of money spent and then failure.
Also why WD-40 of all things? WD-40's propellant isn't' even extremely flammable anymore so i can't see it giving you "instant 500hp" at all.
trukhead 03-27-2010, 05:09 PM Thanks for the reality check, my truck is fine as it is. An '85 m 1008 (1 ton 4x4), tough as nails for what i need it for. this is a great site! Keep on Truckin!
Trios 03-27-2010, 05:11 PM Glad to be of service. Throw a turbo on your motor if you want some more oomph.
Joeairforce 03-27-2010, 05:12 PM Glad ya saw the light :thumb:
mtjasper 03-27-2010, 05:13 PM Well you ain't gotta go shootin nitrous to get power, you can get moderate power with the 6.2, about the same as a 6.5 turbo. 4320diesel has a nice writeup on using a 6.5 turbo on a 6.2, also other companys make kits, heres a link to 4320diesel's thread on it.

trukhead 03-27-2010, 05:26 PM About the WD-40, WHen the fuel filter base leaked and the prime was out of pump (due to previous owners rerigging of an electric fuel pump, since been replaced to original configuration- works fine now), WD-40 would get the engine going with out the horrid starting fluid knock and ping. Could keep engine running long enough to get fuel injectors working. got me out of a few jams.
4320Diesel 03-27-2010, 07:11 PM you used ether? thats another no no.
turbonator 03-27-2010, 08:10 PM put a water meth injection kit on there, its a lot more reliable, it can give you about an extra 30 horse shot and cool your egt's the same time....
Diaric 03-27-2010, 08:29 PM twin turbo's, water meth injection, propane boost and enjoy the 3 mins of power before it goes bang.
turbonator 03-27-2010, 11:49 PM mmmmmmm 3 minutes.....
Diaric 03-27-2010, 11:50 PM mmmmmmm 3 minutes.....
