I was wondering if anyone has tried this unit at all. I don't get to extreme with my truck, but the juice box probably isn't helping things out. Just can't afford the big step, let me know what you do about it. Thanks

First of all, WELCOME!! This had been tried before and posted before.. You are better off saving your money and waiting till you can afford to purchase a complete trans... If you really want to spend the money send it to me and I will take care of that for you... Good luck

So I take it you guys have not tried the Bully Dog. I have not purchased it, I just don't want to wipe the tranny out. Have you heard of the transgo shift kit? Is this a better step to take or not sure? Found a kit new for $200.00, says will hold 600 horse, but tranny has to come out? Let me know what you think. Thanks

The transgo kit is a good one. But if you really want to have the power you will need to hold the tuners and boxes that are out there you will need to do a complete trans.. The transgo is a patch to hold until you can install a complete unit.. Do a search on the Bullydog shift kit and I think you will find out what you need to know....

We need some kind of sticky for these kinds of questions. We could do a nice explanation of all the mods available without taking sides and hurting any vendors. It will have to be honest.

Well then create a thread Mike and we will sticky it for you to post your honest explanations in....

You could buy a Transgo kit and just install the shift valves and it would be much better than installing a BullyDog kit. If you did this you would have the rest of the parts to install at a later date when your pocket book feels better.

You must have read my mind Mike, I was just figuring out how I was going to word the post and all of a sudden I was reading it! That is an exellent idea.

Just throwing in my .02
If you are going to have it apart anyways, a Suncoast3 or DTT Stage1 might be the best thing to do .... sucks to pay R&R more than once

Would you recommend a DDT 1 to someone with shallow pockets today?

Consider your answer carefully. Many folk are reading this. Suncoast III will handle 450RWHP reliably. DDT? Dunno.

Stage1 Held me for quite some time Pat.. Last I looked it was a year of towing, dragracing and showing off without a limp or miscue. The only reason Stage2 was installed (almost 9 months ago) was to test it out with my kind of abuse and see how well it fared. Time constraints notwithstanding, It has even been handling the Twin Turbo setup without a hiccup.

From a cost standpoint Suncoast is probably less $$$$ than the Stage1 will be. And would be a good place to start IMHO

From a 'beginning' stage of tranny upgrades, there is Bully Dog's Enhancer Valves, Transgo, Suncoast3 and DTT Stage1 in order of Cost.

I believe that if a person is paying to have someone do the tranny upgrades for them, it is better value for the re and re $$$ spent on pulling the tranny to go just that little bit further.

I do have a lot of enthusiasim for this Diesel Performance stuff. All around this has been the coolest vehicle i have ever owned.

I have always been a purveyor of upgrading a little bit higher than just the transgo kit. It does possibly the best job for the $$$ spent (power handling per $$$)

I recommend Suncoast and ATS as well as DTT. Some want/need different things. Some are on a more restrictive budget than others.

A transgo kit is a good start but you also need a new converter too IMO. It is better to have too much trans than not enough though and itsucks to rebuild it. A transgo and a converter will hold alot of abuse though IMO
