: No forward or reverse

My buddies truck, 04 duramax with a suncoast trans, has no forward or reverse. Replaced the nbsu, and the ignition switch with no improvement. Unplugged the rear connection on the transmission also with no results.

With that i believe it must be something internal, any ideas where to start/ what to do. Thanks in advance

How did this happen? Does park hold? Does park grind when to try to apply it? Any noise? Any codes? Does column shifter feel loose? Does column shifter actualy move linkage on the side of trans?

Park engages and disengages. Linkage moves. You can hear some kind of rpm/load change when you select gear but then does nothing.

His superchips programmer pulled a pressure high and a pressure low DTC but it didn't give much information and apparently doesn't pull the actual gm DTC? That i don't know for sure as i didn't see the code, just what he had told me. Also it gets a shift range inhibited message on the DIC.

Column and shifter feel fine.

The speedometer does not work either. he also has the tire size set as small as he could and still runs a 33-35" tire. I know that would have messed with my old ford but don't know about these.

Also, it has been acting up for awhile intermittently not going into drive, but if it was turned on and off and played with it always went in to gear. That is why we suspected the nsbu or ignition switch and replaced them.

Sorry for writing a book there i was just trying to give something that may help.

Thanks

Codes would help a lot.

Probably a pressure control sollenoid DTCs. Was it a Circuit High or Low DTC or was it a Pressure Switch high or low DTC?

If it was a circuit high or low DTC it's electrical, if it was a pressure switch high or low DTC it is most likely NOT electrical. But knowing the DTC will tell more of a story.

If it is electrical you should be able to get hydraulic defaults by disconnecting the harness at the back of the trans and then pull it into gear. If your not getting a forward range by doing that then you've got something mechanical going on most likely.
