Looks too small to be a Tahoe....... But I don't think they made a Blazer in this body style?

Agreed it needs a Duramax though :thumb:

That's an odd one for sure, with a built duramax, the power to weight ratio would be crazy.

How much do they cost in Mexico. There's got to be a way around some of that import stuff.

I'm searching car adds in mexico right now, my wife is helping me with the Spanish, DMV says it has to be imported by a U.S. recognized and approved importer, there are 3 to choose from. So I'm going to find out who Mon-Tue and get started. I'll upgrade the 2 door Tahoe to a GenII interior and wiring, shove a LBZ in it and slap a 2006 SS Silverado nose and exterior package on it too. That should be one off enough to work as a DuraBurb advertising Co SUV. A 4800lb 2WD SUV with 1000 ftlbs of torque. Yea that sounds just right. Might even make it into a magazine article with that.

Good luck......sounds like a lot of paperwork headache.

Maybe easier to mix and match a truck and suburban/tahoe body.

I would think that would be much easier than trying to get all the paperwork approved and get that think licensed here, not even to talk about the work it takes to put a duramax in a gas vehicle.

naw Wffokker (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=93202),
We do that every day of the week, thats a 8-10 day job. Its finding one and the red tape I'm wondering about, none have come up this last weekend, I'll keep searching though. It would be the worlds only Tahoe SS 2DR Duramax. Thats Cool!

The trouble would be that Mexico built cars/ trucks do not have the crash, OBD II, or emissions that are required for registration in my state (Oregon) can't imagine what CA or NJ car would take. That is what hurt the place I worked When I was working as a tech in the German Grey market, we had great success until 96 (OBD II) and new regulations added too much expense to make ANYTHING. just my .02

Well in this case since the GMT800 platform is a global one I don’t think that would be an issue, besides I’ll be swapping everything into it from a 06-07 LBZ donor to gain the GENII status. I guess really all I need is a shell with a title. It’s for me so I don’t even care if it’s a salvage title really since I would be so radically reworking the Sonora (Tahoe) anyway.

TDI,You found my treasure chest, I was importing the 2wd 2door blazer in 93-94 from mexico before the us finally released them to us in 95, we brought in around 50 total, lowered them, big wheels, superchargers etc. and then shipped them off to Japan. Ive been working on getting a couple of these units to my shop. Not the easiest thing to do but my old contact has been trying for me, I will be in mexico next week to try to get some of the final dealings done. Ill keep you posted.

Eric, I found this 2006 thread about the 2dr Tahoes:

http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f22/2-door-tahoe-yukon-31441/

Theres a link in there to an article about them. Looks like you may be out of luck, which sucks. <5000lbs, 500hp truck would be badass.

Yea thats where I got the red suv photo. I don't know, havent found anything on ooyo (their auto trader) so I'll call some chevrolet dealers in Mexico today.
Wood is headed that way and he finds all kinks of odd ball stuff so he may turn one up too.

If not I'll hack a suburban and build my own!!

I had one of these back in 2002. the story I got when I bought it from john Bohannon from Nashville Tennessee was that it had slipped out from under the tracks of the dozer and was originally a prototype. apparently it was firewall clipped with a half ton truck (that's how it was titled=salvage..BTW) and Was painted tangelo pearl over orion silver with a purple flame seperator. it was stock frame bagged on 20-22 billet specialties, it was shown for a full season, then sold. I later saw it featured in TRUCKIN Magazine by a new owner, who took complete credit for the build citing (lying) that it was a hacked up suburban, which believe me it was NOT. I bought it with no interior and had to hand fabricate EVERY piece. that body came straight off of sheet metal presses and an assembly line. the Last time I saw the truck it has been lifted at least 10 inches and was about to be refinished. I know this book i wrote had shed absolutely 0 light on your mission so that being said.....MYYY assumption has always been this.... only complete cars and trucks that are intended to be licensed and driven on american roads have to pass smog and safety inspections... given the title on my old show stopper was that of a truck, I always assumed that a rear clip was effortlessly imported as a crash part, and was melded onto a previously totalled pickup.....HINT HINT

I know that vehicle well. Was owned by a accessory shop owner in Nashville correct? He then showed it and sold it to Fabtech Motorsports, who in turn lifted it and used it as a show vehicle. After they were done with it one of the reps bought it and was daily driving it.

Well BigDmax if you see something let us know. I'm just wondering now if GM had several R&D test units down there that may have lead to the "belief" of them being available to the public. I have been searching hard and haven't found anything yet.

The TDIguy,

I found a 99 2dr Tahoe with a 454 installed, I asked the owner if he would part with it. He said sure for 30K! If it was pristine, i might have thought possible for that price.

PM, if you are still interested in locating one......
