Sorry for another newbee question, but when slowing down to my driveway, it' seems like the transmission is downshifting, Is this normal?

Yes. It does downshift even whne not in tow/haul mode. just not as aggressively. It's not like a car automatic that's always trying to make you go faster. This tranny maintains speed for you without too much braking and throttle. I like how when driving through a residential development, you don't have to continually ride the brakes.
