Rumor has it that the 05+ bulged hood and grille fit on the 04.5 LLY's that originally come with the LB7 style front end. This true? It seems like the theory works... just seeing if anyone has any experience with this. My brother is looking into a 04.5 LLY since they're much easier to come by in this area for a decent price, but prefers the 05+ look.

Now I thought that all 04.5 lly had the diffrent style hood and grill and the lb7 that made to 04 had the older style now I could be wrong. You might want to vin it out to see what motor is in it.

My fault I just saw that you are asking about the LBZ front end. Cant help you with that.

Yes they will fit. You need the hood and the grill. You can also run the new hood without the updated grill, but it looks stupid.

some 04.5's had the LB7 front and some had the 05+ front.. luck of the draw i guess. Im almost positive it will work but it doesn't hurt to ask someone that has had experience.

Yeah, the MY05's, that were built in 04 had the 05+ front end. Anything under 05 had the "LB7" front end. The new hood and grill will work.

Check out my front, I have sprayed the original grille with black Fusion spray paint. The factory gray looked boring. The black sharpens the look on the front end. My garage has a photo. Easy to do. Just pull it, mask the areas you don't want to paint and shoot both sides. About a 2 hour job.

you need hood, grill and plastic cover that goes over radiator/support to fit a 05 and up style on a 04.5 and lower front end. I have researched this because I want to do it to my 04.5

How do you remove the grille to repaint it? Was it very hard? I could not see where it is fastened. I was looking at painting mine also.

If the grille is like a 05 and newer, remove the plastic rad support cover. Then pull on the grille. Its just clipped in. The pieces between the headlight and parklamps are also part of the grille assembly.
