im interested in buying a new truck near the end of summer. im looking at all makes right now, and just had a few ?'s about dodges. is it correct in assuming that all HO motors have the 48re tranny? the non HO all have 47re? is there a way to tell if its an HO by the vin? thanks a bunch. cant wait until i finally get me a truck, be it a dodge or whatever. thanks

yes on all HO have the 48re.A SO can have a 48re it was started after jan build date.You can have the dealer run the vin #and he can tell you if it is a HO.now what I am saying applys to 2003.2004 and up are 555 600 610 depending on year.there is some smog motors out there at 235 HP cali and a few other states you dont want them IMO.
