Ok, i just need some more 16 gage wire and i'll be ready to start hooking things up. I got the old ford starter solenoid from advance ($14.00) and a friend of mine got the momentary button. Since i have an army truck the batteries are both on one side. I was told to hook the solenoid to the front battery for power. just want to make sure thats ok.

Great, thanks man. I'm sure i'll let you know if i have an issue, the only other problem is, how can i hook up the wait light when i press the button?

should come on automatically. I know the 12v system it wired parallel. should be the same.

Ok, i have the GP card though. Does that make a difference? or do i splice wires from that card to the switch?

Sorry no exp with a gp card but I'd still think it was wired in w/ the GP's. try it a nd see if the light comes on.

My only consern is fring anything. I dont want to hook this thing up and fry anything when i hit that button. I suppose that huge resistor on the fire wall is no longer needed. This will be a true 12V set up? i just want to make sure. I love this truck but if this motor keeps pissing me off with little crap like this, i'm pulling it, selling it with the 6.5 stuff i was gonna put on it, and put a Big Block Chevy motor in the truck.

The motor is not your issue. Your lack of understanding the split 12v/24v system on a CUCV is. Putting a gas engine won't make any difference. Sorry but I detest ignorance. Go to Steel Soldiers and download the TM. If you cannot read a schematic then take the truck to someone who can. The factory system works fine on mine. The more you butcher the wiring he worse the problems will be.

I'm not butchering anything, i want this thing to work and if running a manual set up is the only way then so be it. It should be working the way it was suppose too. I know the motor has nothing to do with it. But by swaping a gas motor in is the only way to drive this damn thing. I'm not being ignorant, its called frustration. I'll figure it out. all i wanted was some answers to my questions just to make sure what i;m doing works and doesnt blow up

You will not blow it up. The TM has everything you need info wise to fix the truck.

Took me a while to understand cucvs. I read just about every post on ss. Plus some jerk really hacked up my truck to so I had to go through everything. Took me 6 months to get it going. Today will be my first real test drive. Everything you could imagine has been said on SS. So my advice to you is bring it to someone that knows how they work, if you want to drive it ASAP. If not It may take hours upon hours of reading to understand these trucks

Another thing you could do is find someone local pop both hoods and make sure every wire is the same

Did that cucv from a guy named ofroadritchie?

My CUCV came from some guy in Manville NJ. I found the truck on ebay. I'm gonna give this ford starter solenoid thing a whirl. I hope it works, As long as i get 12v and only 12v
