I have a 95 stock 6.5 td which was blowing much black smoke and no power on Saturday.. after 10 mins problem went away . Pulled the codes and were :
32 EGR circut error
33EGR control pressure /baro sensor circut high
45 EGR vent error

and 78 turbo wastegate selenoid fault.

this is my first diesel , bought it nov 2004 and it now has 157000 k on it .
went through this forum to look for solutions and have contacted heath diesel for the turbo master to solve the 78.
the person there said that their product etork performance upgrade would solve all of my other issues and codes.
I then contacted the local dealership to see if it is under warranty and was told that some components of this egr system is still under warranty but could cost hundreds of dollars to diagnose what is wrong first and then might not be covered..

can i please have your thoughts on my situation.. what would you do?
and is all this info correct?

this forum has been great for this newbie ..

1. remove plastic turbo power cover
2. remove vacuum line to egr valve
3. insert #6 panhead screw into egr valve
4. reinstall vacuum line...

the egr is now disabled, and being a 95, there should be no mass air to screw things up??? the egr systems on these engines [or any diesel engine] is MICKEYMOUSE... when i had my tahoe, i disabled mine with a solid gasket and removed the MIL bulb from the dash... i didn't have the time to fix it properly [HD ecm and intake manifold]

nickleinonen, did you mean plug the vacuum line with a screw at the egr valve? That's what I did but I had a smoking/shuddering issue at low rpm and engine load. Problem was gone when I plugged the EGR line.

Make sure you have vacuum first by testing the vac line for suction at idle.

EGR and wastegate all has vacuum in common. Your pump may be goin' south or you've got vacuum leaks, check it out first just to see. 78 means turbo-no-spoolie usually.
