hello everyone I am new to the forum I Live in Lemoore, CA and have an 03 duramax turbo diesel with crew cab and long bed. nothing done to it yet but someday maybe banks anbd a 6" lift.

sometimes when I turn over the truck to start it it takes forever to start. everytime I start it I always wait around 10-20 seconds before turning it over to let the glow plugs warm up but sometimes it takes awhile still. also I got the truck about a year ago it is an 03 it has about 48,000 miles. would the original 100,000mi 5yr warrenty cover glowplugs? or is that somthing that just wears out over time and isnt covered. so for we havent had any problems with it except the waterpump went out but chevy fixed that. too bad they had it for 2 weeks to do it.

I attached a pic of the truck. Ill put it in my signature soon.

thanks for any advice, I dont know too much about the duramax and everything. But as you can tell by my name I have a vette and like working on that though

We had a truck in our shop that had the same problem and it turned out to be 2 bad injectors.
just my 2 cents
hope this helps

I Also Had Starting Problems For A Few Months. Then I Could Not Start The Engine At All. The Gm Garage Changed All Eight Fuel Injectors And My Fuel Pump. My Truck Had Around 50k Miles. They Did Not Charge Me The $100 Co-pay. Also .. Just Before The Injectors Were Replaced My Water Pump Was Replaced Due To Coolant Leaking From The Weep Hole. I Now Started Adding Stanadyne Additive With Every Fuel Up To Lubricate My New Injectors And Pump. By The Way.. I Was Stationed At N.a.s. Lemoore In 1970-1973 Attack Squadron 146.

Do a search and you'll find 99.9% of alll hard start problems are from bad injectors. Put a couple of drop of engine oil on a clean white paper towel. If you notice two distinct oil rings, you are leaking diesel into the oil from the injectors.
Good luck,,,Ron :)

thanks to everyone Ill go to a dealer and get an appointment. injectors should only take a day right? last time I brought it to the dealer I brought it to a chevy car dealer (because they are about a mile away from my home) who didnt have many trucks at all and they had it for 2 weeks. this time I am bringing it to a GMC dealer so hopefully they will be faster.

hey chuck777 I am in in VFA-146 right now. but transfering soon.

Red, try pimping the filter primer up before getting too excited about injectors. If it starts better all is needed is a filter. Later! Frank
