I am very new to EFI Live, bought it for my Vettes and was going to run IdahoRob tunes on the truck but like the way it runs with the IQ/6-gun so just going to use EFI for the ERG and DPF delete with help from Rob:)

Anyway, I have been able to download the stock LMM tune so I can send it to Rob.

I am trying to download the 06 Vette ECU and TCU files to send to a great Vette tuner for the mods done to the car the past few weeks.

It tries then gives me a message that it cannot unlock the ECU which I am sure has a stock tune.

I have read every tutorial, thread, etc...... I can find and so far it seems I am supposed to be getting a code back from EFI but nothing sent to me via the email I registered under. At least I though I registered according to following their instructions. Neither for the truck or the car, nothing coming back.

I know it has to be something simple, like a clear and easy way to do this stuff that just is not that clear and easily made known it seems!

Any ideas?
Suggestions?

I would like to figure this out without having to call anybody and bug them when they are working hard on other peoples vehicles about something that should not be hard to figure out. I know all about being busy, I am too damn busy to fight this thing and a bit frustrated with it at the moment.

I had one hell of a time getting the software to run on my new Netbook I bought to tune with. The program did not install the driver files, had to download then after awhile I figured out I needed to just drop them onto the C drive, the only way I could get them recognized was the answer to that.

------

Getting a keyless Vette into ON mode was another fun thing to figure out, pull the radio fuse and Onstar, hold the bottom of the button down until it goes into On mode. Nothing posted on numerous sites about this(I did not get a factory users manual with the car, maybe listed there) but I found an obscure post with some mentioning of it pulling the fuses, that did not do it but holding the button down did. Maybe it will work with the fuses in, I will find out someday.

-------

Anyway, it seems I am missing a step or two on registering the license but I just have had not luck finding an answer and just need a bit of help on this, please:)

Sincerely
Rick

Ok what is the version of V7.5 build number is it?
You may need to update to the RC5 public beta versions off EFILive forum site. See if that helps on the vettes. Also there is link in a sticky at the top of this forum section here to them with info on updating the V2 to its full use.
Next you will lock the flashscan to the vehicle when you try to program them the first time. You start the flash process and then it come back with the option to lock to the module.

Do you have any aftermarket radio installed? Might pull the fuse if you do. On mine, if I don't unplug the USA-spec ipod interface from the stock radio, forget interfacing with the ECM.

Hi Rick,

The 06 was a changeover year for the Vette. The locked message either means the ECM is locked or the wrong ECM type has been selected. We have seen files for the 06 Vette as both an E38 (as listed on our website) and an E40 (which isn't listed on our website), so you may want to check and retry the controller types.

The TCM selection will depend if it's a 4 speed or 6 speed transmission. If you have the 4 speed, select T42 and if it's the 6 speed select T43. NOTE: The ECM and TCM are seperate controllers on your Vette, so you will need to read out both files seperately.

Brian's suggestion will bring your software up to date, but if you were able to pull your LMM file without any problems this isn't going to be the source of your issue - we haven't played around with the 06 Vette files for a number of years.

Let us know how you go

Cheers
Cindy

Thanks guys, I have the latest software, brand new EFI system, etc and did pull the fuses, etc.....no cell phone around...

Paul at EFI answered my post there and I have sent him to bug files to look at.

Thanks again:)

Thanks, still more to work out though.

The car runs great but when I romp on it in auto mode it hits the rev limiter and will not shift until I lift off the throttle.

I did copy the files from the tuner to a zip drive, then to my Netbook, etc, and renamed them so they could of lost a few bits in the suffle(of course that should not happen but you never know for sure) I went back and just used the PC directly but then had a flat tire:(

It seems one of the 3 piece wheels sprung a leak for some odd reason, I will have to pull it apart and reseal it so it will be a few days before I can drive it again. Sucks because my wife wanted a nice spring cruise in the car I bought her for a wedding present that she loves having me mod and driving it, she rarely does and loves to go fast with me behind the wheel, cool eh? :)

Anyway, will get this sorted out in time and have some fun this summer!
