I put in an order about a month ago for an 05. My dealer sent me a letter saying my build date is 7/11 ? Will it be an 06 ? Sure hope so with all the good rumors !

Most likely a 2006. Last chance to special order a 2005 was late May.

Most if not all of GM assembly plants will be shut down for model changeover the first two weeks of July, so I would expect your build date is incorrect. I would check back with the dealer.

The last date for custom ordering was the 2nd or 3rd week of May. The last build date for 2005 is supposed to be this week. In fact, I heard from a reliable source that while the target week for "last of the 05" was this week, they actually finished last Friday. A build date of 7-11 seems to be an 06 but I do know they shut down for the first 2 weeks of July to retool, etc.

Of course, this is only what I have heard from GM friends. I could be completely wrong.

Mine went into production yesterday. It's an '05.

You might be pleasantly surprised to find your truck was already built. My build date was the 27th. It was actually built on the 22nd. Hope for the best...:)

Doesn't really matter what the delivery date is if the paperwork is completed prior to the rebate ending. Besides, rumor at the dealership is the deals will be extended in order to clear out all the '05's. Who would go in to buy a vehicle at a higher price after this deal ends. GM wants everything gone from inventory.

A buddy of mine works at the Pontiac Truck Group in Pontiac Michigan. He said that they have been working 7 days a week to do mock productions of the '06. They need to work out the bugs on the assembly line so that when the production starts they will be ready for the production order slam that kicks of the 06 model year. Minor things that need adjustments from the 05 line to the 06 line. I haven't heard exactly, but I will find out and let you guys know that are interested!!!!:ro)

I almost forgot to say that I ordered my truck, and the build date was sooner than they told me. My '05 was build on a Sunday, March 19, 2005, second shift. I was suppose to go and see it get built on the line on Tuesday, March 21st, first shift. My buddy called me on the Monday, March 20th and told me that it was done and loaded on the truck to be shipped to the dealership. I called my salesman and tol him the truck was on it's way to his place, and to have it prepped for me to pick it up on Tuesday, March 21st. He told me that I was joking with him,(ha,ha) he lost that bet!! He had it ready for delivery on the day I told him that I was going to be there. He asked me how I knew the truck was done. I told him I have connections.

TODDSTER, the Build date is usually on a Monday. That is what is know as the T.P.W. Targeted-called that cause it keeps moving- Production Week. well i can tell u that we have been running 06s the past week, we needed 1400 by today, think we got it, there still shipping out a couple 05's but yeah it takes a while, were running at half capacity working out getting to know the whole thing again, were supposed to be runnning 410 a shift(10 hours) but we have only been getting like 230-260, but this looks like a very nice clean motor
