Looking for a serious boost in fuel mileage. I can get about 17mpg at 1.8rpms at 65mph.
I read up on the literature on stanadyne performance formula, running at 8oz for a 26gal tank, which adds a 6.8% boost in fuel mileage.
However, on this board, I see more guys running 2-cycle at 32oz (for a 26 gallon tank) and reporting 2-3 mpg increase.
Im competing for best mileage against a 6.4 powerstroke, and I sure as hell want to win. Which would you pro's recommend? How much should I add to the diesel when I fill up? I cant lose here boys, I turn to yall for help.
...by the way, drivin from my house in south georgia down to miami for some booze and bikinis...:D

stanadyne is approved by GM.. personally I've been using it since day one, never tried the 2 cycle oil. I figure it's the best of both worlds..lubricates and increases cetane.

I can't speak to any mileage increase since I have used Stanadyne since the beginning. I get between 17 and 18 MPG while running empty but I'm also have a 3500 dually. It's not going to get as good as the MPG that you 2500 guys get.

you can add the standadyne and a quart or two of 30wt non-detergent oil, making the fuel heavier and increasing the btu potential of the fuel, therby reducing the amount of fuel used. (just an idea - someone more knowlegable should probably chime in..) I have run non detergent motor oil in the tank before and it makes the truck quieter and seems to add a little power.I never had an issue doing this and it improved my fiel economy, or at least seemed to. sorta cheating, but if you really want to win...

I have been using cheap citgo 2 cycle TCW-3 oil available at Academy. Sometimes can get it for 6.99 but normally priced at 9.99. I can hear the difference in the engine if I fill up and not add the oil. I cannot report my gas mileage has increased. I still get 19mpg mixed city driving and 20+ highway. The 2 stroke oil just adds lubrication to the fuel while some additives add lube and cetane boost. I've only used diesel kleen and some other cheap brand additive (can't remember name) with no mileage increase. Seems like you should get better than 17mpg, especially on highway. Are your tires bigger than stock? You'll have to figure percentage to makeup for what the odometer doesn't show, unless you have it calibrated.

Don't know where you came up with your mix ratio for 2-cycle oil. I run 1/2oz oil per gallon or 13oz to 26 gallon tank.

This is Spicer's lubrication study. I currently use 16 oz. of TC-W3
2-stroke/24 gal of fuel.

I make a cocktail of 8 oz. of 2 stroke and 8 oz. of Stanadyne. I put them in a bunch of used oil bottles and it works like a charm. Allows you to buy the stuff in bulk as well.
