I'm getting a little fed up with my 02 Duramax.
Wheel studs busted.
Rear axle seals replaced.
Injectors went out.
Then the glow plugs.
Now it won't go into 4WD. A little embarassing sitting on the boat ramp this weekend with the tires spinning.
Anyone know of this problem before I go to my second home at the dealers tomorrow.

Welcome to the board.

Wheel studs busted????? I've owned several 3/4 ton and 1 ton light duty trucks and vans, and that's the first I've ever heard of that. How did it happen?

McRat,
I've seen it on Ford PSD's and D-max's with folks who've put on after market rims and got the wrong lug nuts, torqued wrong, etc. Happened to a friend twice on his Ford. Same thing on a D-max, wrong lug nuts.

Will be interested to learn more about his truck and the mods (if any) on it. That's a lot of BIG problems he's having.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Where did you go boating by the way?

I tore up lug nuts on my 85 (first truck) I was backing over some sidewalks and parking bumps jumped in the damn thing wouldn't back over it, threw it in 4 low and oh yea it went over it, with the parking brake still applied, tore up 3 studs on one side...needless to say I reach down and pull the Ebrake handle without thinking for the next 10 years...live and learn!

On the 4wheel drive did it light up the indicator, you do know it won't go into 4low while in gear has to be in Neutral.....hey I subscribe to the KISS method, we have a saying where I am from..."IS THE GAS ON" check the stupidest details first! Also have you tried puitting it in 4 wheel since then? And did you try hitting the indicator and letting it roll back just a bit?

Just wondering...

Put on Firestone E rated 265/75-16's on custom rims.
Part of the problem was the stud retainers. I removed them and all was well.
Got the truck back from the steeler yesterday. The 4WD problem was apparently a corroded connector. I suspect the steeler may have not connecteed after the glow plugs were replaced as after this job they also found a cut vacuum tube.

While rotating tires, I broke a lugnut stud torqueing to 140 ft-lbs. Now, I torque to 110 ft-lbs. I rotate tires every 5000 miles because tires cup. First truck tires to ever do this to me.

Left rear axle seal replaced twice so far.
