u r ffucckked! :sheephump
i assume u are talking about the truck in your sig??
i assume the nut is welded to the yolk? and not the shaft? - i hope!
if its welded to the pinion shaft.... get the torch out! $$$$
it should NOT be welded on. somebody must have done that. they must have been worried about it comming apart? i just use locktite - never had an issue-i believe its right hand thread (normal) righty - tighty, lefty loosey! you have to cut that weld to get it apart. if its just tacked on you can cut the welds with a wiz-wheel, if its solid welded.... your gonna buy a new ring & pinion! at that point i'd weight out the price differeance between a new ring & pinion (and new bearing kit) and a good used axle assembley.... good luck!!
b.t.w. what is " breaking chalking " ???

no its not literally welded on its just on there really well... ive use the big bas***ard (8ft wrench) and it wont budge... put 150 psi on the impact and no go. used my 2 ft breaking bar and hte jack to loosen (weight of the truck) and the whole truck will lift. had penetrating oil on it for 3 days now too
breaking and chalking = e-brake and wheel chaulks
yes it is this truck.
thankx anyway.. gonna get the impact on it (again)

oh!!! i see, i thought it was LITERALLY welded on their! my bad.... well in that case, just take a torch and heat ONLY THE NUT, (it expands the metal and releases the grip on the threads) then put your impact (or a large breaker bar will work better) on it. i GUARANTEE this will work! but the trick is, heat the nut quickly get atleast 1-2 flats of the nut SLIGHTLY RED (and try to aim the heat at the thickest part of the nut) and try the impact right away, because if the heat sinks into the pinion shaft (to long heating it) it will make it tight again. just BECAREFUL because as you can imagine everything will be HOT! good luck!
also when taking it off (with the impact) hammer it back and forth untill it comes loose. i know it sounds dumb but it works!!!

Heat it up and when RED hot get a wax candle , and let the liquid wax sep into the threads. No joke it works.

Get a bigger gun. I just pulled one apart that was on a dodge and holy chit it was on there. I used a 3/4 in drive breaker and a 10' piece of pipe on the end and it popped off

thanks boys the heat coupled with the 8 footer got it... hollee eff... anyhoo they gave me the wrong seal, how many 10.5" rears are there? everyones giving me all sorts of wrong info as if theres another smaller one... even GM mechanics. Its a 14 bolt, The pinion nut is 1.5" NOT 1.25" there are 2 different seals for this diff and all places have the small one not the big one.. ( this one takes hte big one) any ideas?

There are 2 versions I think and the 98 is the newer one. You can tell by the ripping on the diff housing itself. I have one out of a newer 05 and it's the same as the one in my 98

That's Bizzare, The last 8 digits of your VIN should be enough to get the right parts for your diff. As far as the pinion seal, I think they changed to the larger one in the 89 model year.
