Im painting the chevy emblem on the grille the color of the truck tomorrow and i don't want to leave the one on the tailgate gold and don't want to paint it the color of the truck and put it back on the tailgate. im planning on painting it the blue granite color of the body and then sticking it on my black chest toolbox...

my question is: is this emblem just glued or double sided taped on like 2500 badges on previous year models?

Yes, the bowtie on the tailgate is double sided tape. I heated mine up with a hair dryer and peeled it off. Just be careful so the corners don't dig into your paint.
