So I put a Road Armor bumper on my truck this past weekend, but I cannot get it to line up properly. I bought it used and do not have any instructions. On the sides the bumper is flush with the front quarter panels at the fender flare, but then slants down (about a quarter to a half inch) as it moves forward, . I have seen some photos where the bumpers look like this, and then I have seen other ones where the front (towards the grill is higher) than it is at the fender. I just want it to be even and level, right now it is actually slightly bending my quarter panel. I also want it to be as high up (close to the grill) as possible.

My Questions:
There are 3 slots to bolt the bracket to the bumper. I have the top bolt all the way to the bottom of the first slot so I cannot push it up any more within that slot. For those that have installed these bumpers, which slots are your bolts in? If I move the bolts so that the top bolt is at the top of the second slot, will that help? It is already flush with the backend of the quarter panel, so can I push it up any higher?. Also, how much of a gap do you have between the lights and the top of the bumper. I've seen some folks that are real low and others that seem to be flush with the lights.

Any input would be appreciated. Pictures too!

Ya I might try that, but I already have it on, it just needs some adjusting. Wondering which slots other folks put their bolts through.

Yours looks a lot more straight and higher up than mine. Which slots on the bumper do you have the bolts going through. I currently have the top bolt at the bottom of the top slot, so I cannot push up any further. I need to wait until I get back up home so I can use a jack or something to support it, and then try putting the top bolt through the second slot. How much space do you have between the bottom of your headlights to the bumper?

Will do. It may just be that the pics in your garage are from afar. Mine looks good from a distance as well. Just would like it level and sitting a little higher. I"ll try to get some pics this weekend.

Here are some photos. The second one actually looks much worse than it actually does in real life. If it looked like that in person, I'd be fuming right now.

So I checked out my bumper. It hangs about an inch below the headlights. I checked the bolts and I got mine mount of the top hole lowest level. But looking at it, Im confused on what to do with the bolts that have that wierd piece of steel welding to them. Looks like shit moved around down there causing some wierd rust marks. Maybe the two flat parts of the steel are supposed to be against eachother. I dunno but Im confused now that I have looked at it. Something seems wierd about those bolts.

Looks like yours is better than mine. Mine has about the same amount of space between the parking lights and bumper, but is more slanted on the sides. As you can see it is actually bending my quarter panels. Does your bumper come flush with the back of the fender flares? Mine only goes about 3/4 of the way back.

Are you talking about the two bolts that are welded together or the nuts with the welded on tab? The nuts with the welded on tab go in your frame rail. You have your top bolt through the top slot or the second? If I had my top bolt in the highest slot at the bottom my bumper would be hanging real low.

I'm gonna work on mine this weekend with a cherry picker and a jack, then i can move it around and try to get the bumper level and out of my quarter panels. I think if i can go down to the next slots, it might raise the bumper up and drop the back a little, but it might not go any higher since the bumper already up in my quarter panels. However, I didn't have a jack or anything when i first put it on so I was relying on my own strength and trying tighten it at the same time.

Yeah, trust me it is. Especially since I haven't had a chance to work on it for two weeks. Been waiting to get back up north where I have access to the equipment I need and some buddies to help. Pissed my quarter panels are bent and scratched. But like I said the pictures look worse than it is and i think once i back it out the quarter panels will be fine.

Mine is not flush with the fender flares. When I lift wiht my fork lift it is perfect but as on now it is 1/2 an inch off. The bolts with the tabs were supposed to go in the frame? Im must of put those in wrong. Let me get a pick up to show u the bolts. I believe I have the bolt on the top hole. Ill get a picture so we can figure it out. And ROAD armor needs to make some better directions because this is really starting to piss me off!

Ya the two bolts that are welded together (1 piece) go through the bracket to the bumper. The nuts with the tabs go into your bracket. You have to tape them down in the bracket so that once you slide the bracket into the frame rail you can find it and lightly start to thread the bolt from below until the little tab on the nut turns sideways and hits the side of the bracket so that it stays in one place. This is the hole that the back of the tow hooks connected to (not the hole that goes horizontally through the frame rail that used to tie into the front of the tow hooks). Until I get mine off this weekend I only have one of the bolts with the nut w the tab in place because I couldn't find the other nut. It's solid as is, but what a stupid design.
