I have a whining/ gear bound noise when under power at 1200-1500 rpm, I can only hear it when driving around town at low speed, its not loud just annoying. The best way I can think of to describe it is sounds like a old farm truck in LO gear when you wind it up. It can only be heard when under a load , let off of throttle and it goes away gradually,I tried to hear it with truck in park and rev motor to 1500 rpm and couldn't. Could it be the fan ? It hasn't stayed engaged when I leave in the mornings (morning sickness) all winter like it used to. Could it be engaged all the time? Ideas????
I recently flushed PS fluid, and changed fluids in front and rear differentials(75-90 syn), transmission and transfer case (transynd), if that is relevant.
Thanks for any help

I can hear the turbo whistle like always, not ruling it out, just looking for ideas of what it is.
My intake mouthpiece did turn up cracked a couple months ago, letting in unfiltered air, it was fixed but I don't know how long it was like that. The whine wasn't there then, just noticed it the last couple of days. I inspected and had a friends business contact that rebuilds turbos for sport cars look at it and he thought it was OK, a little play but not to much. Think I will have another look in the morning.
