Well -- I bought this the other day. In my ignorance I re-read my emails to and from, and he said it would INCREASE turning radius by 3 feet. I took that as meaning I could make 3 foot Sharper turns -- not the opposite. My fault. I plan on eventually getting a 4" or 6" lift. Should I follow through with the install of the center link. The turning radius on this thing already stinks. Any input would be appreciated. I am not a hard-core racer/puller, but would like to be able to do what I want in the truck you know. Plus I hear it makes the steering better. Anyone with these on, or with an in-depth knowledge I would greatly appreciate your help.

Personal I don't think I would be willing to give up 3' for it, before I exhausted all other possibilities i.e. hyd steering or others.

Yeah I'm still debating the extra 3'. I know it will be stronger/firmer, but I don't know if I'm that extreme. If it were a foot or something like that I would do it, but 3' is a lot.

I installed one on mine about 3 weeks ago. I noticed it for about 1/2 a day. Then never noticed it, or thought about it till I read this thread.

That's on a CC longbed, with a 4" lift.

I say go for it, you will re-learn how the truck drives and it will feel normal in no time.

If your not going to race it or wheel it I duno if I'd keep it. JMO See if he will take it back or sell it on the board if not, I'm sure someone will wana scoop it up if you sell it here. Talk to some guys that actually own it though, moss022, ryan, I think some of the Co boys like deadeye and gmcsled are a few I can think of off hand. Or ask SD's oppinion, he'll shoot you straight if you really need it.

its peace of mind, just imagine never to have to worry about your tires bowing in. its so very nice.

None while it was off, or when it was on the lift where you could see it good.

I agree with Moss peace of mind. I have to wheel into some pretty remote places. Don't want problems.

I am going to do it. Now I just need to know how to do it along with the sleeves at the same time....

Tips/Instructions would be GREATLY appreciated.

i've had mine for a while. i'm still glad i did it. i did lose some turning radius. i wish it wasn't that way, but it was definately a worthy tradeoff for having the frontend nice and solid. i'd do it again in a heartbeat. i only notice it when trying to park in tight spaces. in reality it isn't that bad.

my sig has a link to the SD website which has a pic. It comes with installation instructions. Michael is on vacation for the next two weeks but if you send him a PM he will be able to read it while he is gone. He may have a set with him which he could ship before he returns. Assuming someone at IRP did not buy it.

Ahh -- Yes -- the hidden instructions. Thanks.

Alright -- the instructions were for the Tie Rod sleeves only -- I need an explanation on the CENTER LINK if possible.

Thanks for any help

See if you can get hold of GMCSLEHD. He and Michael put one on IBDMAX'IN's truck weekend before last. Even though I also have one it has been a while and I just took the pics of that install. Michael probably has not had the time to put them into some instructions. Or you can PM me with a phone number and I will call you.

I don't know if you guys are trying to do them in place or dropping the whole thing?
Ive done a few things with the front steering & its much easier to pull it out.

Had a little visit from the Auto Parts Fairy last night, and I went outside and the centerlink and sleeves were on the truck. :)

Only thing is I AM the auto parts fairy.

Boy -- that stupid OEM center link was a PITB to get off. It was like 11:00 at night and I was banging as hard as I could. In fact I actually broke the tool to get it off I torqued it on so much. Luckily one of those little heads was still on there. It took me 5 hours. If it weren't for the OEM center link being stuck I could've been done in 3 if not less.

HOWEVER, I got'r done.
Time for an alignment. :)

Seth;

The instructions that came with the tie rods describe how to do an alignment. If your alignment was correct before you started the install you should be able to do as SD has written. I have seen/and helped/ do that on several trucks. Mine was installed a year ago last Feb and when I replaced the tires last week all the wear was consistent on each tire (I do 3-5K rotations).

Anyhow, this should save you some time and $. Call me again if you have more questions.

Good Luck.

Question -- turning radius lost wasn't too bad? However, when I fully turn sometimes I hear a "clack" sound. ALSO -- when fully turned I feel the tires slip/skip something like that. Is it normal with this centerlink. It is solid as a rock down there so I am not really worried -- just wondering. Thanks...

Yes it is normal to hear the tires slide a little on hard turns. The reason for this is because the stock arm turns one tire out more that the other to allow easier turning, now that you have the center link both tires turn at the same rate. That's the reason for the tires slipping on hard turns.

Thanks -- I thought so.
