I'm thinking about restoring my optic sensor to the factory location. Reason is that I believe it's keeping the turbo from kicking in. I accellerate a little, the psi is at 0-1, it's loud and I've got black smoke. I accellerate a little more, the psi jumps to 4-5, it's quieter and the black smoke is gone. Also, I've got a Wester's reflash coming to me....one day.... and I think it needs the factory calibration to work right.
Anybody care to weigh in on my bump/boost relationship hypothesis??

Its keeping the turbo from kicking in....
I will agree that you might want to put it back before you install the reflash, but it can only give you MORE boost because it gives you MORE fuel. Other than that, it has nothing at all to do with your turbo. If you're only getting 5psi boost max, then you've got turbo related issues.

sorry, incomplete post. the boost peaks out at 9psi before falling off.

Optic bump is not the problem. That is the way that the factory system works. It peaks and falls off around 4 psi to 5 or 6 in your case from where it peaked. I don't know about everyone else here, but I have seen several different stock trucks that all have different boost numbers. Doesen't seem to be any reason for this but maybe the day it was built on! :joke: If all your vac system components are good and the turbo itself is good, the answer will be in the reflash......and maybe a turbo master.........and an intercooler.....and.....
