I have my truck leveled with the cognito uca kit and love it. My question is with their bolt in ball joint. It is the same ball joint thats found on a 97 1500 truck. Is it strong enough on my 2500hd?? I am assuming since tons of people here have the uca's that they must be strong enough, as i haven't heard of any major issues with them. Just wondered what anyone else thought.

I crossed the replacement part number over to moog and its the same as a half ton.

Mine are fine too. Just wondered about the strength of the joint. As many kits as there are out there, haven't heard of any problems with the upper joints. Just thinkin aloud.

just cause its a 1500 doesnt mean it was built with sub-par parts. Our 2001 1500 has seen more abuse than my 07 2500 and it has held up way better. Many of the parts in these trucks are interchangeable between models. I dont think you have to worry

I personally tossed the Moog ball joint that came with my Cognito UCA's and replaced them with the Spicer Professional Equivalent. The only difference in the bolt in ball joints for the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton is the mounting base, the ball joint itself is the same size. The part number that Cognito uses is for the 88-2000 K2500 P/up with the 7200lb GVW. There are other applications as well. I've compared the Spicer and the Moog side by side and the Spicer is a much better built ball jhoint. The Spicer/Raybestos part number is 5001062 and you can get them from Rock Auto for about $30.00 Ea.

Also just a FYI Cognito's ball joints use a larger ball and socket and is channeled for better lubrication that is common with other over the counter parts lines. But still the cross ref. to a 1500 has nothing to do with how strong it is for either truck.
