Hi Folks,
Maybe someone can help.. i've been reading about the K&N air filter. Everyone claims they are not to run on the duramax? also GM has a bulletin out on this.. Reason i'm asking is i just got my truck serviced by the dealer & they stuck a K&N filter in .. if this is the case .. should i have that filter removed ASAP.. i don't want to damage any part of the motor or turbo.. can some help in this matter & or post the GM bulletin on running the K&N on the duramax .. Thanks..

They pass dirt, They leave a oil film on the sensor in the breather tube that makes it not read correctly, which it will then give bad info to the ECM! A bud just replaced his TURBO, dealer said it was the k&N and the crud it let pass through. Take it or leave it! That's been My experiance, GET IT OUT, HURRY, GET IT OUTTA HERE!

100k miles here with the K&N (installed the minute I rolled out of the lot), cleaned every 20k with no problem and still good oil analysis so far. I live in Canada so many of those miles are in the winter on salty, sandy winter roads and/or dirt roads on my land.

Go figure...

i did a search and some of the stuff iv read has got me kinda upset, if something dont change my mind im takin it out tommorow and putting the stock filter back in, a little louder turbo whistle isnt worth screwing something up to me, not to mention i hopefully about to get edge and i dont wanna have to take it in after i get all that installed, so anybody wanna buy a filter, but then again there not any differnt than all those cone filters that everybodys runnin, are they?
