I just purchased a 2005 4x4 duramx. I love the truck but like everyone want more power for fun and also for towing. I am a firefighter and I tow roll off dumpsters for a friend partime off duty. So I go accross the scales at 16,00 lb sometimes. The truck does excellent. I am not a teenager and dont want to hurt the motor or spend $800 bucks. So with that said should I go with the edge ez edge juice or the bulldog rapid power quadzilla or what else? I also dont want to buy the cheap one and wish I had bought the best. So give me some insight from past experience. I think the edge ez will be fine because it will not have high egt's and I dont need any guages. Also I dont plan on any other mods except maybe a k&N filter. THANKS FOR THE HELP:)

Welcome to the Forum,

Your story is familiar to us all...........

We all started out like you............

We all said we just want a little more power...........we all said we didn't want to spend a lot of money................

WE are all lying to ourselves............

WE have all lost our minds...........

WE are all very, very sick.............like a crackhead looking for his next fix............it's never enough............never...........we all want more...........

:help: :help: :help:

Seriously though..............run away now while you still have a stock truck............

If you hang around much longer you are all done.............

The Predator is a great downloader and the Edge is a great wire in.

Congrads. on the new ride. IMHO if your doing any towing and have any mods it is a must to monitor egt so a pyrometer should be added. the edge juice W/Attitude will give you a good tow tune, allow you to monitor egt, along with other features in one package and will satisfy your future craving for more power. As far as air filters go do a search hear and you will find good info about filter quality and what to stay away from.

I see you have the juice with attitude. But you also have the predator why do you need both? Thanks for the info.

I have a 04.5...I have tried the TTS, Edge with Attitude, Predator, VA and know I am trying the PPE Xcelerator. I have a stock tranny...I have gauges...so with that this is how I rank them on my truck. This is my opinion...

1. PPE (I only have had a couple days on it so far but I am very impressed)
2. Predator
3. VA
4. TTS
5. Edge

That is my .02

My list would go the same except for TTS which I have not ran. PPE has done an excellent job with the LLY tuner (Xcelerator) as well as the harness box (Enforcer).

W/ a stock tranny, I don't think u get the whole picture.

I can limp my alli w/ 40hp predator and level 2 juice in 5th gear roll ons.

Some of the boxes may be cutting power.

The HOT xceleator raise your red line to 3800 rpm is that good for your engine in the long run?

Don't waste your money on the K&N. It can cause MAF sensor errors, and will not make a significant HP or mileage gain.

I'd suggest one of the following:

Edge EZ - Simple HP with killer midrange.
TTS Tow - You will forget it's there. Best tune for stock LLY's to date IMO.
Predator - Cheap, effective, with good special functions.

Keep in mind if you end up wanting MORE power, the selection suddenly changes.

Well after much delibaration I ordered the Superchips Yesterday. I hope I made a good decision. I am not looking for the highest horspower I just want great power and not be hard on parts. My reasons are as follows.

1 The egt's are safe they stated they ran this program on the dyno till they were blue in the face and would never hurt a turbo. They did recommend a pyro no mattter who's program you use.

2 The customer service rep jason was extremly helpful to talk too.

3 They say there program works great with a stock transmission and I have no desire to hurt mine.

4 The price was great $323 to my door with shipping. ( not from them)

5 The three power setting are all I need. (125hp 200 torque on level 3)

6 I cant change it on the fly so I will not try to race every car at the stop light. By raising the level by a flick of the swith.

7 The manufacture is within one hour of my house. Should I have problems.

8 There is not much said on this forum about them but what I have heard is usually good.
