pull your 2 stero fuses that are in the box in the engine compartment. they are in the bottom right hand corfner of the fuse box. Now install the hypertech program.

Is the predator the same way or will it work when i plug it in? IF so when is the updated new predator going to be out? my truck is an 05 anyone else having problems?

I had the same problem with mine. Apparently they are very calibration specific or something. This seems to be unique to Hypertech that they will not work on the most current trucks. That or you got an old stock unit. It will be a bit for the new Pred, but the old one was already light years ahead of the Hypertech in my testing.

same problem when I bought one last year for my 04 LLY. Sent it back for an update. Good news was that they provided fast & prompt service.

There's something just not right with that tuner, but if I rag too hard on it I get accused of having an agenda.

Hint: Look at where the HP peak is made...

I do intend to retest this unit some day. Till then I have it kept aside for amusement along with my first edition LB7 6-gun...

I had the same problem with the one I just bought. The bottom line is the only way to get it to work is send it in and wait, and wait I did. It turns out that my truck was built in April of 05, and I likely got a programmer that was sitting in a warehouse for weeks, months, ???????

If you have a new truck, then before you purchase a Hypertech, I suggest you call them and make sure that you are purchasing the latest version with the right Calibration (Cal). The part # for my truck is 30029-1 and the version # is 03.23.008.30.

It was big pain in the ass delay to get it back in my hands. It took nearly three weeks. It is a long story here is the short version. When it didn't work at first I brought it back to the retailer and they said they would ship it next day at their cost. It went ground and took over a week to get from Phoenix to Memphis. Hypertech reprogrammed it and instead of next day air, it went ground. Over a week later, it gets delivered to the wrong address. I have no idea how, as the invoice gives my address, but the outside of the box has a different one. It takes me a day to track it down, the guy that received it said he would hold if for me, so I had to drive about 10 miles to get it.

I have had it in for a couple of days and I must say, I do like the level 3 power so far. Seems to have corrected for my 35" tires and we will see about MPG. I pulled my boat with it today and I thought it was very smooth in Tow/Haul mode. I think in regular mode, the tranny is still re-learning, as it is a little abrupt when getting on the pedal. Time will tell!

I just changed mine to level 2 last week. The only real difference i see is about 1 mile per gallon better. The power is a tad weaker, but it does get better mileage here in town. No towing as of yet on level 2. My truck is lifted 6" and has 35's if this helps anyone.

So far 16 or so with it on 3. 17 or so with it on #2. I'm going to try it on level 1 on the next gas tank. The power difference is definently different.

I just logged my first full tank of gas with the Hypetech on Level 3 and I am getting around 15.5 +/- mpg. This was a combination of about 60/40 highway and city commuting, along with about 30 miles of pulling a boat (3500 lbs).

Not too bad, considering I have the 6" lift and 35s and I occasionally get on the throttle just to see the black smoke pour out the back! :ro)

Anyway, with the much higher gear ratio (around 3.10), I was expecting a little better mileage. I guess it still seems to be improving some and I only have about 3500 mile on the truck and some say your mileage continues to improve up to 10,000 miles.

The power difference is definitely there, I think for the money this is a good product overall.

yeah ive run on all levels now seems like it definatly works level three hauls ass but im scared to leave it on there. ive been towing on level 1 about 10000 lbs and it goes good i think for regular driving level two is a good mix of power and not hurting ur dmax

Well, I decided to try the Hypertech on level 2 for a tank or two. I thought it would be interesting to see how much my mileage increases. I wasn't too happy with the 15-16 mpg I was getting on my commute. It was much worse when towing a 2000lb. trailer at about 11-12 mpg. If I can get it up to 18 mpg, I may keep it there. However, if it is only 17, then I will go back to level 3.

The level 2 setting still provides some nice power gains considering I am running the 35" tires. However, it is definitely not as much fun stomping on the gas now and again. It seems to shift smoother (not as abrupt) on level 2 as well.

The pyrometer was showing about 125 degree lower EGTs and it seemed that the tranny was running around 10-20 degrees lower temps at around 180-190. I wasn't pulling anything, but I would expect similar reductions.

I will post later with some mileage results.
