Due to availability and price of donor '90 ford 1 ton van and dead 6.2, I am mulling over an engine swap for the 1 ton dually:eek:. Has any body ever heard of that working, or even being tried? thanks:confused:

It's been done, have a look on youtube. Seems like kind of step in the wrong direction though, for all the effort why not buy a cummins for 2 or 3 grand.

Hey I hear you. But I have this engine complete in an e 350 van just sitting in the yard and tyring to find a home or use for it and a buddy of mine blew up his 6.2 in the 1 ton so.... got to thinking and wondering and you know what happens to idle minds/ idle hands. Anyway, still not sure if it is a good idea yet or not. Right now am busy trying to fit a big cam 855 cummins in my 5 ton service truck. The fun never stops.

Oh if you already have the engine, I bite that comment, go for it. It would be unique, I just assumed you were only speculating. 7.3s are good engines, I just figured if you were going to bother, go with the best. Is the 7.3L a turbo ? Edit, be sure to post up the service truck project, it sounds awesome.

Hey no problem. No its not turboed and no its not my frist choice. I already have a '90 f450 with the same engine, not my favorite either. Its strictly a case of: its laying here, what choices do I have for it. Maybe someone needs a complete 7.3 E350 van with rear body damage???????? What heading did you look under on Youtube? Thanks

I honestly couldn't tell you it was a long time ago, but it was a red chevrolet truck in a mud bog, nothing up close though.
