Which 'specs' are you referring to?

Are you using a Time Trac or similair tool?

If not, then the 'spec' is just advance the pump from line to line position to compensate for timing chain wear.

this is setting timing with a lumy probe to whatever spec is recomended by GM for this aplication.............Merle

what do you mead by line to line?

It has been a while since I set one up with a probe, but I think it should be somewhere around 6-8 degrees BTDC.;)
