Hello all,

I just bought my new 3500 dually yesterday. I also have a Dodge diesel that I have done a lot to but I needed more cab room so I got the Chevy.

Some questions for those who are more enlightened on the Chevy than I am.....

1) I want to lift it but do not want to go higher than 57" to the top of the bed rails (possible 5th wheel in my future). What is a good lift kit to use - brand and size? I want it to sit level as well.

2) I plan on going with 19.5 wheels and am not sure what sized tires will go well with the above lift to keep me under my hight requirement.

3) I am new to dually's so I do not understand all of the wheel adapter stuff. If I go with Ricksons do I need to bother to know it or will they take care of it for me?

Thanks for the help!

Congrats on your new dually! I don't have any measurements but I'm sold on the Rancho 4'' lift kit with 285/70R19.5 tires for my rig. Now all I have to do come out of the my pocket with the money.

There are transmission issues that are discussed in this website that you really need to consider before changing wheel and tire sizes.

My 4X4 is stock and the top of the bed height is very close to the max now. I have hauled several different 5th wheel trailers since I transport them for manufacturers and I am at the min clearance now. I have 5-6 inches between the bed and trailer. A 5th wheel trailer and lift kit does not go together. When loaded the truck levels out.

you could always flip the axles on your fifth wheel..... That's what I am going to do.

Hmmm......I didn't measure my truck when I bought it but I know that my '99 Dodge 4x4 QC LB Cummins with a 5" lift & 35" tires sits right at 58" rail height. I'll go out and measue the Chevy but it can't possibly be that high stock.

What tranny issues are there for a couple inch lift?

Not the lift but the tire size. Search the site. There is a lot of info on the subject.

Check out this site. You will see a photo of Johns truck. A dually with 19.5 wheels and tires. He is great to talk to. I am sure he can help with all the adapter questions etc. that you will have. He is in the Northern end of Los Angeles county so he is close. You can also come out the LACR on July 16th and see him run his truck. See www.lacr.net for more info. Congrats and have fun.

Be aware if you change the diameter of the wheels it will affect the braking power substantially! If you are going to pull weight, think about it!
