My truck has 500 miles and will be towing 500 miles in a week. I am planning on changing the rear diff. fluid after the tow. Exactly how do I do this? Do I need one of the little pumps to get the fluid in? Planning on using GM "grape juice"- any advice as to where to find it cheap?

Look on bottom of dif there will be a drain plug (magnetic) IIRC the rear end holds 3 quarts. To get fluid in all i used was a small funnel with a piece of hose on end. The plug in the middle of the dif is where it goes back in

Which truck 2500HD/3500 ?
There is a Drain Plug and a Fill Plug. Remove the Fill Plug to vent the system, remove the Drain Plug to drop the fluid. The Drain Plug is magnetic, clean it real good.
The little pumps are great, (NAPA, Autozone, etc.).
"grape juice" an't cheap any where, you have alternate choices. Any good synthetic, I use Amsoil 75W-90 and I tow heavy.
Replace the Drain Plug and fill to within 0.6 in of the lip opening. Some say it doesn't need to be that high, I believe it does and the Helms manual says it does.
Good Luck

The rear actually holds 4 quarts or just under and the front (if 4x4) holds 2 quarts. A 3/8 ratchet (no socket) will get the bottom plug out to drain. IIRC means If I Remember Correctly.
