was talking to someone friday at work, he was talking about how the newer corvette drivers switch on a/c but turn to red zone during run at strip. said tells computer program to up fuel to engine, thinking about it have noticed 1-2# more boost with my a/c on driving today since gages installed. has anybody else heard or tried this out.
I have heard of people doing turing the A/C on in the Corvettes if they didn't have programming and wanted to turn both fans on to cool the engine. But I don't think it would help in the Duramax since they don't have electric fans. Also since when running the A/C the truck/car will leak a little water and track officials and other drivers won't be to happy about having water on the track.

from what i got, factory program i believe ups fuel to engine to power a/c compressor load, but turn temp to red so no demand(no cooling-no condensation on track). similar i think to when smog engines idle compensater solenoid. would account for difference in boost on my truck

ditto to what Kat says. Track officials dont like it. You shouldnt even run it in staging witch can really SUCK! And no offense and I dont mean to rag on you but if I see some body running thier air dripping water at the line when I'm about to run it will PISS ME OFF. Its like curtisy staging, just good manner.

I have tried turning it on at the staging lanes and then off again at the end of the pass. ( not enough time for it to leak). and the truck did not run any slower or any faster. it did not feel it.

It usually happens to the driver that is doing it.
A couple where dripping at IRP and left a 4" circle just inside the tires, the hotter/more humid the worse it is.
I followed his track back to the water box, don't know how long he had it running.
It does dry real fast though w/ track temps in the >120* range.
Same thing w/ coming to the line w/o seat belts on and the windows down.

Did anyone zap the track temp? It HAD to be over 120. Makes it a real PITA to keep the track in shape

I'm sure it doesn't help having an all black truck, right Phil.

All I can say is I'm glad I had enough forsight to not wear my dieselplace Tee shirt. All black woulda really kicked my butt. Windos down and a deccent breeze and the vent blasting made it bearable.
I'm going to stick an air to water IC on my truck, that way I can sit on the ice bucket in staging and keep my boys from sweating.
