Took my 05 into have a new cooling fan installed and the tech did a update flash also, now I have a change fuel filter life message - says 100% even though there is 6k on the one in the truck. Anyone now how to reset? I plan a changing the filter this week and want to reset it . On the plu side the hot temps seem improved, towing 1000miles next week and will post how it goes.

That's interesting... My 04.5 was just in and had the modules updated, but I don't recall seeing that message.... I wonder if it's '05 specific.

Yes that is part of the reflash for the 05 only. 04.5 LLY's do not get it. Next time you change your filter reset it and it will be set properly for your new filter.

Probably just press and hold the lttle arrow button to reset, just like resetting the mileage, fuel used, etc.

The newest pcm software is available on 05's only and the instrument cluster also must be updated for the new feature to be functional.Yes the over arrow reset filter life.

The newest file does address some drivability issues but this post is about it adding fuel filter minder to existing 05's. You must get the pcm and instrument panel update for it to function. No drawbacks.

I don't have the dic controls. Will I need the update? How would I reset it? I know how to reset my engine oil life.

Does anyone have any info on the reflash (version / TSB# / Flash P/N)? Just wondering b/c the site that I used to be able to check for calibration updates no longer seems to work. I will be going in soon, and want to make sure I have all the info.

Midwest - you mention that this addresses some driveability concerns. Do you know which ones? Also, what needs to happen to the cluster - just another software update?

Thanks guys!

Does this work like the oil life or does it actually sense pressure drop? mine hasn't moved from 100% in 3500 miles.

Do we have to ask the dealer about this or is a reflash some thing that is done when an update comes out. I have only had my 3500 for a month.

I took mine in with a problem with the ally, actually towed it there, and I mentioned a problem with low idle surge. when I got it back they had reflashed the ecm and the pcm and the fuel filter message was there. BTW the surge problem is a little bettter but still there.

So i just had my truck in for an oil change.. I mentioned the fuel filter message in the DIC (reflash etc) and they didn't know anything about it. The dealership was great to me and spent 45 minutes trying to find it.. the master tech was the one working on my truck (service writer said he would be the only one he would want working on my truck.. apparently 20+ yrs working for chevy as a mechanic). He couldn't find anything in the gmworld system that has all the updates. I had explained some have already got it.. but they are puzzled. They had called someone above them who is a regional guy and is waiting on a call back.

Can someone PM me there VIN who had this reflash so I could have them check what was done? I would really like to get this update.. but obviously not getting anywhere.

Thanks

You have an LS - which implies that you don't have the buttons on the steering wheel that would let you see this information. Without the buttons on the steering wheel - my guess is that you might get a warning that the filter needs to be changed when it's time - but won't be able to see what % is left.

It doesn't matter if one has the LS or LT, It the truck has the steering wheel controls, then u get the update. The reflash is not specific to the LT package only.

They must also update the instrument cluster software also for it to function. Most trucks need the pcm, driver and passenger door module, instrument cluster, transfercase and radio updates. Have all the modules checked for updates. Just watch out for the Body control module update because some BCM's are a one time only program and if they upadate the wrong part numbers the module is done and the truck won't start.Be aware. Tim

I've had the reflash and put about 4000 miles on it since and it is still at 100% fuel filter life. Anybody that has had the reflash had any luck with it showing a lower percentage?

I had the same problem. I reset it, even though it was already reading 100%, and it started to count down. I still don't know if it is like the oil life system, or if it actually measures pressure loss across the filter to give a more accurate measure of life left.

So about an hour ago.. I get a call from my dealership. This is X.. I just wanted to give you a quick call to let you know we found the update. Just let us know next time you are in the area and we will get it updated for you."

Me - Thanks soo much, I appreciate you following up with this and getting back to me (without me having to call back).

I was amazed that the service dept actually continued to look into this for me. The dealership is beginning to win me over!!
