Just picked up a van, non runner...

The story I have is that they drove it home, broke the key off in the ignition, replaced the ignition and never got it to run after that.

I did reset the security light and I don't believe that is a problem any longer.

I've had several of the 6.5's all with varying success and I like to tinker with them, but I really would like some help with this one.

Here is my diagnostic checklist:

You said you have fuel at the injectors...I'd think it should try to start if the glow plugs are working. Good compression?

I have fuel dribbling out at one injector but have not checked any others. All 8 glow plugs check out. I have not checked compression, guess I have to spring for the toolkit, or is there an easier way?

With the pmd mounted on the intake it is a suspect but since the problem came after a ignition switch swap I would suspect the last thing to be worked on before the failure first. Are you hearing the fuel shutoff solonoid on the top of the Ip clicking when you turn the key on? Have you checked ALL the fuses? Did you just look at the grounds on the engine ,frame and body or did you disassemble and clean? The vacume in the fuel take isn't good also. Get a new "DIESEL" fuel cap or clean the one you have. They get the vent gunked up over time

:exactly:
If she was running before the swap, and not after, you know what's the part to look at.
It can be coincidence that an issue happens at the same time, but I'm pretty sure the problem sits around the ignition.

What has been replaced ? the ignition key barrel or the ignition switch (harness) itself ?
