I fixed a leak I was having with my bleed screw on top of my box type fuel filter housing only to find another leak....URG! After reading alot of comments on this forum of going with a spin on type filter and finding a post about adding a secondary filter http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124950&highlight=napa+secondary+fuel+filter

I'm thinking I can take out my OEM setup all together and replace/bypass it with the NAPA 4770 and a 3674 filter. I live in the warm Tampa Bay Florida area and I don't think I need to worry about the fuel heater. Can this be done and if not what can you recommend?

I checked out the NAPA website and seen they have 2 different filters for the 4770... one is 2 microns and one is 10 microns... which one do I need?

Go for it, it won't hurt a thing to go without that heater...... I think I'd go with the 2 micron myself......

Are there any other smaller filters that will fit the base, or not? I'm looking to add this in with an electric setup on my 82.

That is exactly what i did to my truck. I took the box off and got a racor filter base and i use a 10 micron filter.
I used the 2 micon at first and when I was in a hurry and needed a filter quick the parts house was out of the 2 micron and all they had was a 10 and i have been using it ever since with no pioblems.

make sure the filter is also a water separator. The factory box filter is also a water separator.

Thats what I am doing, I am using the NAPA 2 micron as a secondary filter.
