Ok, I went the cheap route and got a internet exhaust. :duh: I'm now concerned about drone. If I were to cut the muffler down the seam and install some kind of packing what would be the best material to use. I don't think there is anything in it right now.TIA Mark:help2:

Buford,
Instead continuing to go cheap why not get a resonator. If its a drone at certain rpms some have attached metal strip to the pipe to decrease the resonance. Do a search on exhaust drone, it not just from 'cheap internet exhausts'.

Blue, thanks for the reply. I guess i was wondering if most aftermarket 4" mufflers come with packing in them? If so I'd rather do it before I install the system. The muff is 8" dia 24" Long with spiaral louvers. Or should I just install and go from there? Looking for close to stock noise levels. Thanks Mark

I was looking for close to stock noise levels as well. That is why I went with MBRP. "People" said it was not very load compared to stock. And that is certainly true at idle or no load. But my partner in crime is driving me crazy because the drone is driving her crazy. We haven't even hooked up the 12K fifth wheel yet! The muffler is about the same size as yours, striaght through with dimples. I am getting a resonator tomorrow.

big buford,
You'll hate yourself if you open up the muffler without totally splitting it you'll never get the packing material in place where it'll do any good. We sell a lot of mufflers because of the lower priced systems out there that have no packing materiasl in their muffler, bluedmax is making a good suggestion too, we have an 18 inch resonator that you can mount as far forward as possible and it really tones things down a lot. Less money than a full size muffler too! Call us if you have any questions etc.

I'm going threw the same experience, I tried installing a Flowmaster muffler but
didn"t help much. I talked to Corsa Exhaust & sounds like they know allot about
resonating & droan. I hated to get more invested in exhausts but I can't live
with the noise, so I ordered the Corsa System Turbo back. I will let you know
how it worked out when I get it installed next week.Call Corsa @ 800-709-1279
ext. 135 Paul Santiago He has all the good info.
Good Luck

I got the Corsa Exhaust System installed this morning, I'm totally pleased
with sound, no resonating or roar, quiet unless you stand on it then it
has good tone, they are expensive but no roar.
