Just Bought a 2006 Duramax. I live in Central Il. What is the recommended fuel additive to use
I have read about straight two stroke oil, Monster and Standyne(sp)
Please point me to a good thread that discusses all of these. Not wanting to bring up what is the best I am just looking for an all good around additive.
Do you use these all year long? I am looking for something that works good and easily available.'
Also what is a good catalogue that has after market information I could look at for filters and such.
Thanks

Please do a search on additives as you will find endless posts on this subject. Everyone has an opinion and favorite additive and no sense starting a 5 page debate on somehting covered so well.

123K on my duramax, 99k on my E300 and 150K on my 6.2L diesel and not one drop of additive. My 04 Duramax is running fine on stock injectors without the need for any fuel additive. JMHO

Yes, and you have to remember they are opinions. Everyone has to weigh the pro and con of each additive. The only advice I can give you is to stay away from an additive with alcohol. The only exception would be if its winter and your fuel filter and system have clogged, then go ahead and use power service 911.

I run Stanadyne Performance Formula every time I fill up and 2 stroke with it on full tanks. The Stanadyne has given me about 5% increase in MPG.

I really haven't used anything but Stanadyne. However, I do get a little better fuel mileage and my truck seems to run quieter.

Stanadyne is the only one approved by GM.

Did you read the Lubricity Study that was done by members here a few years ago. Read the results of that study and you will be educated on diesel additives.
Here it is: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728

I think you all know why I'm gonna say Monster Diesel ;) not because I sell it but because I use it and it does do what all the other additives do but better and it increases fuel energy thus increasing power.

Did you decide to test your product to validate your claims? Or is this statement once again because you said so?
