still trying to figure out where this clunk under my feet is coming from. ive grabbed and tried to move every component under the front end of my truck and the ONLY thing that seems to have any kind of movement or play is the CV axle slightly side to side. could this possibly be where my clunk is coming from, or is that slight side to side play normal. and when i say slight im talking about maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch side to side

I just found this one out and I suspect that its happening to you too.. The bearing that is mouted inside the spindle goes out on our trucks.. so if you can shimmy around your CV axle your most likely in trouble. the way you can know for sure is jack up your front tire from under the A arm.. grab the wheel and reach under the truck to the inside of the tire on each side...Then pull in and out.. if the tire rocks in and out then its your spindle bearing. I just had my left on replaced and got to watch how they did it..
its a pretty easy fix if you got the tools. for sure you need a socket thats large enough to take off the axle nut and then the tools to remove your 2 caliper bolts and the 4 bolts that hold the bearing.. the hub bearing is a one peice unit. once you have the axle nut off,the caliper off and the 4 bolts off. Take out the ABS sensor on top with a allen wrench. it may take a bit of banging but the whole assembly will slide out. With the new bearing set in hand for roughly 400 bucks. slide it in with a little antiseize on the Cv axle. and make sure you face the rotor guard in the positon so the caliper can slip back in the proper space. red locktite the 4 bolts for the bearing assembly and torque it down. No locktite on the main axle nut and reinstally the new abs wire that came with the kit. install the caliper followed by the tire.. bam your back in business.. You may wanna soak all the nuts with W D 40 before you get started. hopefully it all comes appart easily.. dont be intimidated by the fix. its way easier than I expected.. hope that fixes it.
