: Door locks and seat belt
Arkie 06-25-2005, 08:28 AM 2005 Duramax 6 speed flatbed farm truck
Anybody got any ideas on how to fix my door locks that way they will stay unlocked all the time. Its a real pain for opening gates and such. The seat belt buzzer has got to go.
idahofox 06-25-2005, 09:47 AM The seat belt buzzer should go OFF after a time, mine 03, does.
Buckle the belt and set on it ?

Originally that was part of the DIC programming, but I think they had so many problems with the body computer that it wa dropped. If I remember correctly, my owners manual tells you how to turn it on/off, but there was a suppliment page that tells you to forget it. I know it was on a 2002 Trailblazer I once made the mistake of buying, but not on this truck.
Arkie 06-25-2005, 12:26 PM I have been sitting on the belt its just a pain. As far as the locks go my friend has an 04.5 cab and chassis and he has the option to shut them off but my 05 is different. Thanks for the help anyways
idahofox 06-25-2005, 01:29 PM Buckle it Behind the Seat.
Crude, but another idea.

GMC2500HD 06-25-2005, 05:29 PM If you will read the book there is a way to use the DIC to make the locks stay unlocked all the time. Good luck
DuckhunterInTN 06-25-2005, 05:40 PM Do you have a bench seat or buckets?
Arkie 06-25-2005, 06:00 PM The seats are bucket with a fold down arm rest.
idahofox 06-25-2005, 06:18 PM So ? Try it.
Be creative.
Pull the belt around and upto the lock !

jim_bo 06-25-2005, 11:39 PM I was thinking about killing my seat belt buzzer thing also. It really should be easy. There has to be a switch in the buckle. Just find the wires and you are there. If the switch is normally open, just jumper the wires. If it is normally closed... cut the wires. Should be easy!
However, the locking thing does suck. I'd really like to tell it to quit locking my door. I bet there is some smart guy somewhere who has figured out how to reprogram the computer. I wish I knew how.

Well I must be the smart guy because all I did was pick up my owner's manual, did a little reading, and BINGO! After following the directions, no more automatic door locks... :muahaha:
Arkie 06-26-2005, 07:46 AM hmm explain lilwes278. Because I have taken mine to the dealership and they dont have a clue..
bzietlow 06-26-2005, 11:24 AM go under the seat and disconnect the little plug for the dinger

What? If so, you have the first 2005 I have ever heard of that does not have auto locks.
Arkie 07-01-2005, 08:07 AM go under the seat and disconnect the little plug for the dinger
Thanks a bunch bzietlow I disconnected the little plug that took care of the dinger. Now all I need is the door locks. I wonder if there is a way to unplug just the driver side. I wouldn't mind the driver side being a manual lock and the passenger side being auto.
yosoyoso 07-03-2005, 03:14 PM I've been trying to do the same thing with the automatic door locks - they're a pain. I don't think there's a simple way to do it, contrary to lilwes278's advice. I even pulled the "Lock" fuse and "Lock" relay from the driver's side fuse box, but this didn't seem to do anything - Truck still locked and unlock automatically, the lock and unlock buttons worked, and the keyfob lock and unlock worked.
There must be a way...

DURAtotheMAX 07-04-2005, 08:08 AM Its not that it was a BCM problem...GM deleted the setting from the DIC for 2005 simply because of safety. I dont think it would bother many guys with the Allison because the doors unlock in park anyways and its not like you are going to be getting out with the truck in gear... However, I feel for yoiu guys with the ZF...thats gotta be a pain. Do the doors unlock when you put it in neutral...or what?? There is a way to fix it. You can take your instrument cluster to a speedometer shop and have them reprogram the DIC with the 2004 software. In the 2005 clusters, the option is *THERE*, its just locked out...no pun intended. There is a shop in California that is great with programming the GM clusters...i forget the name tho...doh!! Its somewhere on the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club website. Either that or just go on ebay and buy a 2004 or 2003 cluster. Its not a BCM thing...the only place that the feature is "locked out" is in the instrument cluster. Or maybe "jumper" the neutral switch in the tranny?

lisagrantb 07-04-2005, 04:29 PM I spend a lot of time opening and closing gates in pastures so I don't use my seatbelts much. So I started looking for a way to stop that annoying chime and found out that all you have to do at least on a 05 HD is look in the receiver part and you will see a black plastic moveable bottom, just take something (very small screwdriver) and press it down until you hear it click. The clicking sound is the latch mechanism and presto it thinks the seatbelt is latched. When you get ready to use your belt just press the release button and then you can insert the belt.
jim_bo 07-07-2005, 05:07 PM So... does anyone know of a jumper or a programmer that can restore the 2004 feature of defeating the automatic locks?
I believe in seat belts, just as I believe in motorcycle helmets. However, I want it to be my decision, not some pencil pushing beaureaucrat in the state legislature or GM! This is America, damnit!
Anyways... how does automatically locking my door provide me with a greater level of safety?

jnieberlein 07-11-2005, 08:47 PM I was trying to undo the automatic door lock thing awhile back, and I was unlucky finding a way to disable this, I am not sure on the 6speeds but I believe on the autos you can change it so it won’t lock until like 10 or 15 miles an hour. I haven’t looked at the manual lately. I know this is not the exact answer you were looking for but it may help if you have a few gates in succession. Sorry I couldn’t be more help
Arkie 07-15-2005, 08:02 AM I would like to thank everyone for their input on this subject. I still havent had any luck but if anyone ever figures out a solution I would like to know.
