: B&W turnover wiring?

I just ordered a B&W turnover ball and air bags. I'm gonna be towing a 25' G-neck. Do you guys wire an elec plug in the bed or do you let the cord hang and plug into the stock location? I noticed a harness that is tied up between the bed and cab. It that for 5th wheels and goosenecks? should I run it into the bed if so?

TIA

Yes that is for 5th and goosenecks.
I just ran mine to the back of the bed near the tailgate and installed 7pin plug.
Makes it easier to plug in.

That's eaxactly what the harness between the cab and bed is for. I ran mine back and installed on the sidewall of the bed to the rear of the drivers side wheel well. I didn't want the cord flopping in the wind and hitting my tailgate all the time.

Lots of the time if you try to plug it in by the bumper it will pop out when you turn short. I would highly recommend putting it in the bed.

I put a plug in the bed. They make a kit where you t into the factory harness and plug one end into the plug that goes up to your bed and one end goes to the origional factory plug down by your hitch.

Where did you guys get another 7pin plug? Will the harness just plug into the plug?

IIRC GM has a kit you can buy that plugs into the harness between the bed and cab and has a 7-pin plug on the other end.

One suggestion - I towed a 44' enclosed GN a lot, I put the plug in the bed on the drivers side bed wall, I put it in the small indent. The trailer created a lot of turbulence in the bed and on more than one occasion my bed mat flopped up and knocked the plug out. Going down a 6% grade with 17K pushing you and noticing you don't have trailer brakes is an extremely scary situation, Make sure you secure your bed mat if you are using one.

made my first trip with new gn trailer have had a rachet strap riding around in back of truck for a couple months and some how with trailer hooked up the turbulance picked up the light end of strap pulled out of box and it went down around drive shaft and blew the rachet part threw the rear window and the glass guy said i wasnt the first customer that has had this happen

Got a part #? My bed is linex'd so Hopefully The plug wont come undone. losing trailer brakes is not fun. I wonder if any 7-pin plug will work?

The 7 pin plugs are all the same. I would use the biggest wire possible and keep the run short to eliminate voltage drop.

The harness on the drivers side inside the bedside that the OP mentioned is for adding a connector. Purchase a 7 pin RV plug from walmart, and a hole saw. As other posters said, there is room inside the bed clear at the back on the drivers side within easy reach, and the wires included reach just far enough to install the plug. Shouldn't need any other wires or adapters if the harness is tied up there. I think that it is included with the trailer package.

That is what I am talking about. you simply unplug your wiring harness by the bumper/hitch plug one end back into the factory hitch run the other connection up to the bed. Drill a hole put 4 screws in to hold the plug in the bed and you are done.

Ya I'm gonna do what was mentioned with the spare harness. those 7pin plugs are cheap. I wanna keep the standard one there for bumper pull trailers

This harness should plug in at the back and allow you to keep your original trailer plug at the bumper. The end at the front's bent at a 90 so it has plenty of clearance. I helped a friend install one on his dually and it was real easy.

I took the wire you was talking about between the cab and bed and pulled it to the back of the truck. Then put a junction box under the bed above the space time and ran the wire into that. From there ran two different set of wires up to my plugs (7 & 6way) in the back of the bed. Also have my extra backup and cleanance lights hooked up in the box so if there is any future problems I can start looking from there.
