I dont know if this is the right thread but move me if it aint.
Here we go!!
Went to a local "street legal" truck pull tonight and I was amazed by what I saw!! There was a good turn out of all sorts of trucks, diesel and gas, but I really had my eyes on two really nice lookin Duramaxs. The first one was a 04 or 05 chevy 2500 HD crew with some 20" and decent size tires. The other was a 04 GMC 2500 HD crew with almost the same setup (wheels & tires). Both trucks had about 2 to 4 inches worth of lift....Both were very nice looking duramaxs. Well everyone starts to lineup and gets ready to pull....first the gassers....a few old trucks break some driveshafts but nothing major. Diesels are up!!! A couple dodges and fords pull....NO ONE breaks. The Chevy pulls up and hooks up to the sled....gets a nice jump outta the hole and about 175' down track ::wammm:: both wheels turn in (kinda like a pigon toed person)....My jaw drops... seems like somthing let go in the steering....right wheel still turns with the steering wheel but left one doesnt move...everyone looks at it for a min and the guy tries to limp it off the dirt....Tow truck ends up comes to get it. A few other diesels pull....NO ONE breaks... the nice gmc pulls up to the sled and hooks up...get a good holeshot....and guess what....about 100' ::wammm:: same thing happens to this guys truck except he could not get his off the track, a roll back has to come move it off. At this time I am afraid to drive my 05 gmc lly home!!! Seems like the two best looking GMs break....same thing same problem...Now I know these trucks aint designed to go to a truck pull and pull sleds....but come on....the trucks had plenty of power to WHOOP everything up there but the broke!!! Does anyone know why this happened or have any insite on a "weak link" in the front steering??? I didnt make it over to talk to the owners or look at the trucks so I am not 100% sure it was the tie rods or ball joints or something else!?!?! But same problem on two trucks in the same hour??? sounds like a problem to me!!! Can someone enlighten me on this or should I not be worried. I pull a trailer ALL the time so I was just a little worried!!!! Thanks in advance!!!
