Mounting my FT857 in my 2003 Chevy (currently in my Ford 4WD) and wanted to know...what battery should I run the power from? Driver side battery or passenger side? I've heard if you jump someone off use the batter furthest from the starter...I was wondering if for accessories we're talking about the same principle?
Thanks.

Doesn't matter which battery for your purpose.
As to jump starting, you should actually use the battery CLOSEST to the start. Battery closest to the starter (and the alternator) will allow for less voltage drop when jump starting.

I prefer the main power (under 40 capable) to come from Stud # or Stud #2. If you wanna supply your own fuse holder, put it here where the yellow ring eye is.

Stud #1 and stud #2 are on the corners of the side near the master cylinder. They are called out on the lid legend.
