Hello,

Test drove a 2005 D/A 3500 single rear wheel 4x4 crew cab long bed today and it seemed like it had some sort of shudder at various RPMs, speeds, and gears. It almost felt like the transmission slipping but I'm sure it wasn't because it shifted quick and firm. Just kind of an odd shake mosly at moderate steady throttle. It also had a little vibration at 65-70mph. We also drove the same truck as above in the 2500 version it still had the shudder but not as bad and I didn't notice any vibes at highway speeds. I also drove the same truck with the 8.1 gas motor a few months ago and it had this same type of shudder. Is it something to do with the wheelbase, diesel, or combination of the two? Any input? I am trying to get rid of an 03 Dodge diesel and don't want to get another dud. Thanks in advance.

Do a search on "launch shudder." There could be a number of causes.

It kind of feels like a launch shudder but didn't notice it doing it at all on take off. It did it at 30 or 40 mph.

keep in mind the 2500-3500HD is a very very tight suspension and if you have never driven one you will feel every single bump in the road and will feel like this for a while until you are used to it.. just an idea.
